THE GAME
Seton Hall will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 21 when it resumes BIG EAST Conference play with a contest at Connecticut. Tip time is scheduled for Noon.

MEDIA
The game will be televised live by SNY with Allen Bestwick and Meghan Culmo on the call. As usual, the game will also be available over the airwaves at 89.5 FM WSOU and at wsou.net. The veteran broadcast duo Wilnir Louis and Joe Matthews will describe the action on the radio. Live stats will also be available.

WSOU is now also airing a post-game "Hall Line" show following its women's basketball games. Be sure to tune in after the final buzzer.

LAST GAME
Senior Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) erupted for a game-high 35 points and The Hall upended Fordham, 78-72, for its seventh straight win on Saturday in the Bronx.

Park-Lane was brilliant when the Pirates needed her most, scoring 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting in the fourth quarter alone. As a team, The Hall was 7-for-10 in the final 10 minutes and connected on 13 free-throws to pull away late. Park-Lane also had five assists, which leaves her one shy of Ka-Deidre Simmons' career record.

Senior Sha'Lynn Hagans (Manassas, Va.) was the lone other Pirate to reach double-figures in scoring. She had 10 points and was perfect shooting today, going 3-for-3 from the field and 4-for-4 from the line.

Seton Hall All-Time vs. the Huskies: UConn leads, 55-10
2021-22 Meetings:
#9 UConn 71, Seton Hall 38 (F) – January 21, 2021 (Gampel Pavilion)
#2 UConn 74, Seton Hall 49 (F) – December 3, 2021 (Walsh Gym)

LAST YEAR AGAINST CONNECTICUT
The Pirates played well in the first half of both contests last year, but ultimately faded in the second half. Connecticut swept the season series from the Pirates and have now won 35 straight games in the series. The Huskies own a 55-10 all-time series lead. The Hall's last victory came on Jan. 5, 1994.

Lauren Park-Lane had a team-high 20 points, but The Hall fell to No. 2 Connecticut, 74-49, in a sold-out Walsh Gymnasium on Dec. 3 last season. The Pirates had a lead after the first quarter, but UConn outscored The Hall, 23-6, in the second quarter to pull away. Sidney Cooks also reached double-figures in scoring, notching 13 points.

The Pirates fell victim to a 9-0 run early in the first quarter and never recovered, falling to No. 9 Connecticut, 71-38, in Gampel Pavilion on Jan. 21. Despite trailing, The Hall fought hard to hold their deficit to just 16 at the half, but the Husky defense proved formidable in the third quarter, and UConn pulled away further. Cooks led The Hall with 10 points.

SCOUTING CONNECTICUT
Connecticut is coming off a spectacular 2021-22 campaign that saw a final record of 30-6 overall and a 16-1 mark in BIG EAST Conference play. The Huskies routed their way to the BIG EAST Championship before advancing to the NCAA Championship game where they fell to top-ranked South Carolina, 64-49. UConn's lone loss in BIG EAST play came at home to Villanova, but the Huskies avenged their set back, beating the Wildcats by 30 in the conference title game.

This year, the Huskies were again chosen as the unanimous favorite to win the BIG EAST Championship, according to the preseason coaches' poll. Forward Ayanna Patterson was selected as the BIG EAST Preseason Freshman of the Year. Junior Aaliyah Edwards, sophomore Caroline Ducharme and sophomore Azzi Fudd were named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team while graduate student Dorka Juhász was tabbed as Preseason Honorable Mention.

As advertised, UConn is off to another stellar start this season and enters Wednesday's contest as the No. 9th ranked team in the country with an overall record of 8-2 and a 1-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Huskies have been successful despite suffering a rash of injuries. Most recently, they defeated Florida State, 85-77, on Sunday without leading scorer Azzi Fudd. They were already minus Paige Bueckers and Ice Brady who have been lost for the season. UConn's lone prior BIG EAST game was a 98-53 rout of Providence on Dec. 2.

UP NEXT
Seton Hall will take a week off from games to enjoy the Christmas holiday, but will return on Wednesday, Dec. 28 when it hosts Georgetown in historic Walsh Gymnasium. Tip time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. The contest will be streamed live by the BIG EAST Digital Network and available for FloHoops subscribers. Michael Stamm and Louis Pasculli will describe the action for WSOU FM.

Thanks for putting this up. I was just going to do a post about todays game.

At minimum this is a great litmus test for this year’s team. An unexpected win vs #9 UConn would be a fantastic Resume builder..Either way it would be nice to see them play a competitive game.

UConn is starting to get heathy. Connecticut is far outside our class. Doubt this is a winnable game, but you just want the team to compete.

Total destruction by UCONN even without their 2 best players and their coach but this Seton Hall team is pretty decent.

I saw the score and my first thought was “wow they lost by only 25, not bad!” Sounds sad, but when you think about it they usually lose at Gampel by 30-40+ and they lost by 33 points up there last year, this is actually progress I’m ok with.

They were down over 30 most of the second half.
