SCOUTING XAVIER
Seton Hall and Xavier will meet for the 21st time in history on Friday. The Musketeers have dominated the prior 20 meetings, winning 16 matches, including a sweep of last season's home-and-home series. The Hall's last victory came in Walsh Gym, a three-set sweep during the 2021 season.

The Musketeers are coming off an 18-12 season in 2023, which featured an 11-7 mark in BIG EAST play. Xavier qualified for the 2023 BIG EAST Tournament, but fell to DePaul in four sets in the opening round. Both Carrigan O'Reilly and Delaney Hogan were named to the All-BIG EAST Team.

This season, Xavier was picked to finish sixth in the 11-team BIG EAST according to the preseason coaches' poll. Seton Hall was selected seventh. The Musketeers are returning eight players from last year's roster and have added five newcomers.

Xavier enters the weekend with a 4-10 record overall and a 2-2 mark in BIG EAST Conference play. The Musketeers are coming off a split of last weekend's contests. On Friday, Xavier was swept at home by St. John's, but they bounced back and swept Villanova on Sunday. Their other BIG EAST victory came in three sets against Buter on Sept. 28. The Musketeers have one of the top setters in the conference with Logan Flaugh currently averaging 10.31 assists per set, which ranks second in the BIG EAST.

SCOUTING DE PAUL
Seton Hall and DePaul will renew their rivalry on Sunday. The Pirates own a 21-7 all-time series lead, but the Blue Demons have won six of the last eight games in the series. Last year, the teams split the home-and-home series with the Pirates winning in five sets in Walsh Gym, and DePaul sweeping The Hall in Chicago.

DePaul is coming off an 18-15 season, which featured a 9-9 mark in conference play. The Blue Demons qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament and defeated Xavier in four sets before falling to top-seeded Creighton in the semifinals. DePaul accepted an invitation to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) and defeated Southern Illinois in four sets in the first round before falling to Drake in round two.

This season, the Blue Demons were picked to finish fourth in the 11-team BIG EAST according to the preseason coaches' poll. Seton Hall was selected seventh. DePaul boasts a pair of Preseason All-BIG EAST selections in Jill Pressly and Rachel Krasowski. A unanimous pick, Pressly paced the conference in both kills (516, 4.45/set) and points (575.5, 4.96/set) last year. Krasowski's 553 digs (4.98/set) also led the league.

The Blue Demons enter the weekend with an 11-5 overall record and a 3-1 mark in BIG EAST play. Last weekend, DePaul suffered its first conference loss, a four-set setback at home to Villanova on Friday, but it bounced back in a big way with a sweep of St. John's on Sunday. The prior weekend, they defeated both Xavier and Butler. Pressly currently leads the BIG EAST with 4.20 kills per set, while Krasowski is second with 4.55 digs per set, trailing only Seton Hall's Rylee Nelson.
