Some of our concerns about the front court came into play against Kentucky. Foul trouble really hurt, but may have been a blessing also.

Nzei had limited production as did Sandro from a point production standpoint. It forced Willard to stick with Thompson and he held his own for the most part. In the OT Willard had no choice but to play TT and Rhoden. I thought the smaller lineup along with Nelson’s fresh legs gave SHU an advantage in the OT. Travis fouling out was huge.

Being at the game it was hard to evaluate Nzei and Sandro’s entire game. TT’s loose Mindset was vital in the first half because the rest of the team seemed very tight on offense.

In fairness Kentucky has two NBA players in their front court. Most schools don’t. I do believe the foul trouble could become an issue if Willard forces too many minutes on Sandro. So what’s the story with Gill? Buyer’s Remorse? Right now it’s a completely wasted ship. He can’t play against New Hampshire or Kentucky at 7’2? We really could use his size. Hopefully, Willard can get him out there soon.

TT and Sandro are the keys to SHU having a realistic chance at the NCAA’s .
