1. Good news/bad news
First the good.....we got a W
Now the bad....the 40 minutes that preceded that W.
2. More good news
I don't need to get a blood test for my impending surgery. Instead I used a tissue to dab my eyes during the game and will give it to my doctor.
3. Is this stat correct
11 lead changes at home against Lincoln in the first 18 minutes
4. Hmmmm
Am I the only one that sees a young Ty Samuel (with more intensity) in Tae Davis
5. Better group of players
The seven who saw action last night or the ones who weren't dressed? Which included Dre Davis, Jaquan Harris, Richmond, Yetna and Jackson
6. Again
As usual Ndefo stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points on 6 of 7 from the floor. Adding 7 rebounds and 6 blocks to the ledger, looking awkward as all hell doing it. If he would only work on his left hand and jumper he would be a sure fire NBA bench player
7. Penetration
...as in none. The reason we struggle in the halfcourt is we do not have a guard with the possible exception of last night's no show Richmond who can break down a defense and create for his teammates. Odukale, Dawes and Harris are all, to put it politely, 2 guards/swings.
8. Two
Yes it took 9 games but in the second half Sanders left alone under the basket caught a pass and hit his first 2 point shot as a Pirate
9. Staying with Sanders
His game is very limited as his only Big East attribute to date is his long range shooting. He's really going to have to work on his all around skill set
10. Smarter than most of us
That award goes to Jerry Carino who was intelligent enough to not be at Walsh last night
11. Speaking of Walsh
The bloom is now off the rose playing there. Better to leave the games in that venerable building to the women
12. Turnovers
They drive a coach wild. But when unforced due to careless passing, poor decision making and lackadaisical play then it's understandable why Sha is follically challenged
13. The D could not have been better
The free throw defense was superb all night. Especially early on as *Seton Hall held Lincoln to 0-7 from the stripe
14. Woe is me
Did anyone catch the freeze frame late in the game when Holloway looked like he just lost his best friend at a funeral while sitting on the bench. Hilarious as I probably had that same look on my face at the time
15. You guys are correct
The common refrain from SHU fans about playing Odukale and Ndefo on the court for multiple minutes together is spot on. Neither can shoot a lick and that clogs the lane for Samuel to work inside.
16. The win
Not based on playing well but more being superior skill wise, size wise and physically wise. Lincoln was just methodically worn down by game's end
17. Walk-ons
When they don't get into a game like this until under the 2 minute mark something's not right
18. Is there a half....
where Jamir Harris doesn't take at least one my turn shot. Any wonder why his shooting percentage at SHU is 34% this year and 37.3% last
19. Going deaf
Imagine what the halftime locker room must have sounded like after the first 20 minutes of play
20. Sunday night
For the first time in what seems like forever I am not looking forward to the Rutgers game
