When is enough, enough?

In the early days of the Gonzo hire, one that SHU AD Joe Quinlan fought tooth and nail against I had to make a decision. Support the AD or support the coach. There was no middle ground. That forced me to make the obvious choice but from that point on no matter how hard I tried I became an enemy to Quinlan. He left no rock unturned to make my life as miserable as possible.

Two cases in point until Rivals had to step in.

1. Kim Keenan Kirkpatrick was the compliance officer as noted previously during the Gonzo/Quinlan years. She was one tough dude and working for Quinlan did everything possible to make anything involving Gonzo an absolute chore. Including dealing with me.

Mike Glover had signed an NLOI to play for Seton Hall. Because of that his Pa high school team played a game at Walsh and he won the MVP award for the game. Afterwards I went in the locker room to interview him. I asked for permission and was told it was no problem.

Days later I was told I committed an NCAA violation and was written up by the school and reported to the NCAA.

2. During SHU Media Day in the early days of Gonzo I was invited into the locker room to just wander around. Their were multiple recruits there but I stood away from them as I was a rookie and just learning the ropes. I did see someone I knew from the camps I visited. He was the brother of a recruit (forgot the recruits name) who was going to West Virginia so I figured asking this simple question of the brother, "how did you enjoy the Rock" wasn't a problem.

Days later again I was told I was being reported to the NCAA. At that point fed up with the petty nonsense I called Rivals and they told me in each case I didn't do anything wrong and they would contact Kim Keenan Kirkpatrick on my behalf. Turns out she would not speak to them no matter how hard Rivals tried to contact her. Eventually they told me they doubted she ever contacted the NCAA and was just strong arming me.

That's how much Quinlan and Gonzalez hated each other. Any wonder that they both were eventually fired?
