This team needs to improve fast

Give some context. 9 missed FTS at 21/30. 70%. Would rank 150/352 NCAA teams season avg. Aka above average FT shooting at the D1 level.

Name me the people you consider BE caliber centers in the big east.

The rest is conjecture.

Relax.
Sonogo, Kalkenbrener, I think St. John’s has a budding center. Some of the best in the country.

He’s still right. We have to improve in a lot of areas. Great win though!!!!

Sha’s rotation is puzzling. How is Ndefo on the floor over Tray/Dre on the last play???
Thought the same thing. The only way Ndefo should’ve been in over Dre was if he was inbounding

Excuses are like you know what, we all gave one. BTW we’re missing our best inside player.
Exactly… just watched the replay of the game. I really like the fight in this team at the end. Down six with four minutes to play. Memphis only scored 3 points in the last three minutes. Richmond made a nice defensive play with 9 seconds left to force the turnover. Tyrese had a great stretch at the end.

Getting Willams and Dandridge in foul trouble (both fouling out) was huge. Second team played extended minutes so starters should be fresh tonight.

Holloway seems adamant about this deep rotation thing. So it's going to take a while to figure out when you have so many new faces. You can see who are his guys though.

Other than Richmond-Harris-Samuel from Willard's last team, nobody else has ever played together.

What exactly was everyone expecting on the offensive side of the ball?

Sha's elite 8 SPU team that everyone raves about was a poor offensive team too. It's been clear from the start that any success team has will be driven by defense.

The offense will improve for sure, but any expectations for it to look like a well oiled machine this early into the tenure of a defensive specialist coach with a ton of turnover on the roster are beyond unreasonable.

Lots of shade thrown on Kadary. Probably from looking at stats. He plays D. He is steady with the ball in his hand. Perhaps he is not as assertive as a scorer as many, including the coach, want. but when he was in, the team had a transition game. He gets the Hall attacking quick. It often does not end up in a stat for him but he is the catalyst. This team has to have a transition game to be successful.

We did win , didn't we ? Never argue about a WIN !!!

TK
Take the win, but don't be delusional either. Nobody expects this team to be ready for the big east on Thanksgiving, but having seen most of the other big east teams, I do not feel we are on par with many of them YET. I know were picked 7th but right now I'm not sure we're as good as 7th in the conference. Memphis has a name brand mainly because of their coach, but they've really only got 1 solid player and he played on one leg last night. They also have a big who is decent and dominated us inside. Thankfully he fouled out with a minute to go. Everyone talks coaching but players gotta make plays. We gave up the offensive rebound that could've sealed our fate, but kudos to the guys for making a play to get the ball back and Samuel to get free for the game winner.

The line up is still a work in progress. I’m a bit confused with what Odukale is giving us with all his minutes at this point.

Someone said we have a bunch of mid-major players with a mid major coach. Well this is exactly the type of team he took to the Elite 8 last year. We will be fine.

I'd really like to see more patience and less dribbling. I thought we had moved past Dribbling U? Maybe it was the way Memphis played as far as tempo, and we got caught up in that to some degree. Our frontcourt has a lot more athleticism than in the past, but they are attacking or shooting way too quickly. Also, as we progress, they may want to play some high low now that Ike has graduated.

It was a tough, physical, grind-out kind of a game against a team at our level perhaps slightly above. It wasn't pretty but we came back from down 6 with less than 4 to play and picked up a very important Q1 win.

We have a lot of new players and a new coach. The turnover situation should get better you'd think, but right now that part of the game is tough to watch. Seton Hall is 318th in turnover % in the country.
My concern is what we see is what we get. This is Sha ball and it won't be very pleasing to the eye.

Sure, we'll improve. It's Thanksgiving and there is a lot of basketball to play. But some things aren't just going to work themselves out with more experience.

We have guys who can handle the ball but nobody to truly run the offense. We have guys who can score but nobody who can be counted on to get a bucket when we need it.

I thought our offensive weakness showed late in the game. Our last basket before Samuel's game-winner came at the 3:33 mark. We were fortunate that we drew fouls and made free throws late while Memphis missed three of four FTs down the stretch.

Somebody has to score points on a bad team.
