Tom, does this surprise you? This is the way he has lived his entire life (I mean he put HIS name on every building he constructs!!!). This is persona he ran on and also won the election. Why would you expect him to start being humble after 70 years?
Of course it does not surprise me, but it seems it reaches new heights with every passing day.
I wonder if Time magazine called Hitler in advance to see if he would "accept the honor". No I'm not equating Trump to Hitler but it is mind boggling to believe that he was offered the award and rejected it prior to the official designation.

The post is not about Time magazine, it's about a person who is madly in love with himself & nothing else is of any great importance to him. Sorry there is nothing respectable about this President.

Time Magazine is just a shameless publication that is trying to sell magazines. Don't get your panties in a bundle about Time and Trump. I agree that Trump is an ass. But Time has been shameless for years and gave the award to even worse folks. Past Person's of the Year include Hitler, Stalin, predator Bill (twice including the year when the Jones and Lewinsky scandals were made public) and Ayatollah Khomeini. Bush also got it.

ALl Presidents are in love with themselves. Trump is no different. It is about him discrediting the media every chance that can be had.
Yeah, they sell magazines so they are trying to sell magazines.. but the Person of the year was never intended to be the best person of the year.

Sometimes it is interesting or thought provoking and sometimes it is a swing and a miss.

If that's the definition than it should probably be Trump again. He owns the new cycle. Or since an "object" could win, maybe the hurricane season.
I wouldn't disagree if they picked him but I could also see them taking a shot at him because of the tweet.

Trump should be man of the year. Whether you love or hate the man most people are more interested in American politics than they have ever been in their entire life.
Trump is literally the most insecure person I have ever experienced. People rarely use 'literally' correct but I am here. I'm sure we've all known narcissists and bemoan that they make everything about themselves, but I can think of no one other than Trump who day in and day out, hour in and hour out, flat out tells anyone who will listen that he is incredibly smart, rich, successful, popular, etc. It is completely bizarre.
