'El RushBo' #1 Again, a repeat of 2009(http://talkers.com/online/?p=267)

The list, which Talkers calls “The Heaviest Hundred,” is featured in the magazine’s 20th anniversary issue.

The rankings are not based strictly on audience, Talkers explains.“Aside from the hosts whose numbers
and fame demand their inclusion on this list, the selection process was ultimately subjective with the goal
being to create a roster reflective of the industry’s diversity, colorful history, and cumulative flavor as well
as giving credit where credit is due.”

The top 10 on the list:

1. Rush Limbaugh. “The most important innovator in modern news/talk.”
2. Howard Stern. “The standard by which younger-demo talk is judged.”
3. Larry King. “The ‘king’ of syndicated talk during the format’s infancy.”
4. Sean Hannity. “The modern-era titan of conservative news/talk.”
5. Don Imus. “Remains relevant after four decades as talk icon.”
6. Arthur Godfrey. “Pioneer of unscripted talk radio and live endorsements.”
7. Dr. Laura Schlessinger. “The champion of moralism in the current talk radio era.”
8. Sally Jessy Raphael. “An early leader in friendly, female chat.”
9. Barry Gray. “Father of the call-in show. Early anti-establishment character.”
10. Bruce Williams. “Trailblazer in syndicated, business and life how-to talk.
”Glenn Beck is No. 22 on the list of 100.
Other hosts on the list include long-time New York “king of talk” Bob Grant (No. 11),
Barry Farber (12), Michael Savage (19), G. Gordon Liddy (38), Michael Medved (61),
Bill O’Reilly (70), and Joe Franklin (71).

Sorry Buc but this list is bogus if it doesn't include my 47,312 calls to Hallline from the 60's into the 80's. Especially my hour long rant from Hawaii at 4 AM EST after a loss in the Rainbow classic (Dec,. 1986) wherein Pir8tes was the Hallline host trying to get me off the air so he could go home.

PS: The loss was to Clemson.

Hi Tom;

I certainly agree on 4AM EST Radio rant from Hawaii, I would
put that on the 'All Time Top Hundred List'.

Incidentaly a couple of days ago I was reflecting with 'Joe D'(DeCicco)
on that SHU Booster Club Trip.
(and Joe D's memory at 92 yrs., needs prompting) :):)

So I tried with Mergan Sina is the R.corner feinting/pumping,
3 times, a wide open shot; and 'PJ' yelling that everyone
in the Arena could hear, "Shoot the D@*m ball"!!!

That brought a glimmer of recognition from 'Joe D'; so I followed
up with, our group in a different Hotel, from the Team the Coaches
and the AD Keating(who gave instructions they weren't to socialize
with us, in our Hotel/Hospitality room).

'Stand up Coach Mike Sheppard' joining us for schmooze
and libation.

Mentioning Larry Keating, jogged 'Joe D's' memory further, and he
referred to the arrogant AD as 'TB'(too big belly).

But it wasn't till I put the Trick Question to him;
"What is the southern most city in the United States?".

He responded "Hilo Hawaii", the light bulbs went on,
and we reflected on that 'Great SHU Booster Club
Trip'., for which the Officers of the Club can be
justly proud, and the membership grateful.

But Tom, John Murray claims he heard my radio interview from the
the 'Hurricane Classic in 1969, that we won, against the field of
Miami,Ohio and Texas(in the final).

So can I bask in your reflective glory? :) :)

Regards;

Yes that was a great trip Buc. But you cleaned up PJ's words a bit. When Mergin stood in the corner wide open, pumped 3 times & eventusally passed into traffic rather than shoot PJ yelled "Mergin, Shoot the F'ing ball, will you".

And yes, Larry Keating & the Alum Association tried to isolate the Booster contingent from themselves but they ignored one very important thing - THERE WERE 5 TIMES AS MANY OF US AS THERE WERE OF THEM & we were 25 times louder that they were. Without us the Pirates would have had no vocal support. It was on that trip that the Booster Club decided that we would never run a joint trip together with the University again. We have always done a much better job at a lower cost. So why should we let them continue to treat us as second class citizens.

OK another rant.

If there were any doubts about Tom K being certifiable, they were put to rest with the phone call, LOL! HallLine was never the same afterward.

Who can ever forget the logic of the admin saying we didn't think you would want to spend an extra $2 a ticket (on a 7-day trip to Hawaii) to sit behind the team so we put you up in the nose bleed area of a near empty arena. SHU at its finest!
