Toumi

That’s a different story though. If we don’t have money, than what coach will have any success here?

In this day and age you have to have both…money and a coach. We obviously don’t have the first despite what McBride and others stated. We don’t know yet if we have the second.

In all honesty, what quality coach is going to come here with the current shitshow we have at the BOR level?
I have no idea, honestly. It’s a terrible situation for SHU. Every season is now hanging on a knife’s edge because money can dry up quickly in this area if the team isn’t competitive with the limited amount of donors the program has and competition for the average fan’s money.

An unregulated NIL and the transfer portal going into effect simultaneously made success at Seton Hall very very difficult and it will be exponentially harder trying to get those same donors to kick in even more money after one of the worst seasons in the last 25 years.

And that's the issue. Show me a business plan that will generate $3-4 million EVERY year without depending on the same donors that have been supporting the program, that isn't based on some wishful pie in the sky assumptions and that there will be ups and downs if the team plays poorly. I can pretty much guarantee there is no plan. We can't live in the land of "hopefully's and maybe's" and expect to raise that kind of money. Sorry, but that's reality.

I'd like to see more of Felton. I think he has real potential.

Based on what I've seen he is not a point guard. He doesn't look to facilitate offense at all. If he does, it's his own. That's fine but he doesn't look to be a good enough scorer to do that. If you watched closely today, he brought the ball up, gave it up and then largely disappeared. If he got the ball back, he looked to shoot.

It's a small sample to be sure but he's averaging about one assist per 40 minutes. The two guys who aren't competent enough to run our offense average approximately four and five assists per 40.
Fair point. To me, he looks more like a 2.

and dual brings the ball up, passes OR turns it over. and certainly never looks to shoot because he can't. felton should get all of that guys minutes. and his money.

It’s a bad year. Cooley had one at Georgetown last year. It happens…it just can’t keep happening. Sha’s not going anywhere, and neither is Felt and Lyons. Play out the year and evaluate who is worth keeping and reload.

I guess we now know why Sha limited any access to see the team in October. But let’s also be realistic…SHU’s issues now start at the BOR.
Can you give reasons why all three should stay? There is at least 1 that I feel has accomplished nothing in his position and set the program yrs behind.

I’ll give the most important one. The BOR and President are not going to do it.

Someone at least needs to ask what happened. The process in putting together this team deserves a question, no? Or everyone is beyond reproach?

What happens to nil money paid if players leave or get kicked off team mid season. School/team can get it back? Or are they payed throughout season. Must have a contract? Just curious how this works. This entire thing is really a mess. Realize some didn’t get much as others but this would be two players gone I believe if he leaves.

Just curious how this works.

Yet again, a very good question: How do these guys get paid? Money up front? Every two weeks? None of the above?
How much were we paying Toumi? Best guess?

Negativity off the charts man..
Any of you around in early Big East days?
Good point, though is there much now to feel positive about, especially if one is not full-on with the "Trust in Sha" solution?

Early Big East days were discouraging. Difference is, then, we were coming from nowhere as opposed to a recent NCAA tournament appearance and 13 Big East wins.

I have no clue but probably more than most would guess. The dollars being paid is getting out of control in my opinion. Tough for Seton Hall to keep up long term.

It was pretty bad .almost hopeless
From the student body petitioning the removal of PJ to the rumors the Big East throwing the Hall out of the conference.

I hope and pray this is just a blip and the program will bounce back quick..

Believe it or not the program has one major advantage then most. The advantage of location in the number 1 media market in the world..

We will have $3 million + now that the practice facility has been paid for.
Hope you are correct. Myself and another poster did an analysis on another thread and both came up with around $3.5 million for a competitive BE team. That jives with stuff that’s been published elsewhere.

That number will be moving up closer to 6-7Mil for next year. $3.5 was the number for this year

Really? Let's see how many players flock to UNC football. There are plenty of very successful tough love coaches.
You’re not comparing Bill Belichick to Sha, are you? How many times has BB lost his cool on the sidelines throughout his career? I can’t think of one time. I’m sure it has happened, but I can’t remember.

Tough love Tom Izzo is still doing his thing at Michigan State and I’ve seen him explode on his players but not after every single defensive breakdown or bad pass or bad shot.

Sha has to grow up and pick his battles. My 2 year old does a better job keeping his emotions in check than Sha does.

Belichick was is not a scream in your face or tough love coach. He is an attention to detail coach. Big difference. In the age of NIL college kids don't want the PJ Bobby Knight approach.

Tough love is one thing. Scream in your face is another
In the words of hall of fame high school coach Morgan Wooten: “True basketball coaches are great teachers, and you do not humiliate, you do not physically go after, you do not push or shove, you do not berate, if you are a true coach. Coaches like that are not coaches. They don’t know how to coach the game properly, so they holler, scream and curse, and that’s to cover up.”

imo our rebuilding job is way harder today.

in 82 we were awful and overmatched in every way. but the big east was the king back then. and free agency and pfp didnt exist.
