This week Robert Morris lost two players who started this year as freshmen. Power forward Elijah Minnie was granted a release from his scholarship on Friday, Earlier in the week, the Colonials announced the departure of 6-3 guard Marcquise Reed, the Northeast Conference's Rookie of the Year. Reed (15.1 ppg) says he wants to play at a higher level. No word on why the Minnie, who is 6-9, is leaviing. The timing for these announcements is odd when you consider Toole signed an extension this week.
Also, four players left the team during the course of the season (three scholarship, one walk-on). Of the 11 remaining players, six were suspended on different occasions for violating team rules, including one for a bar fight.
Despite all this, Toole is considered a rising star in coaching. You have to wonder how this will play out if he were to apply for a future vacancy at Seton Hall (or anyplace else, for that matter). I'm sure people on this board would have some questions.
