Trump Town Hall

is this not exactly like trump too? just because trump acts more like an actual baby doesnt mean he isnt just as opd as biden. false narrative. theyre both mush but one guy is legit crazy.
Trump is unwatchable to me in these kinds of events. See SPK ...you can make your case for either but Biden leans Demented and Trump leans Maniac.

Biden was not impressive and was indeed cringeworthy in a lot of what I saw as I clicked back and forth. As much as he changed topics and rambled on though, he still showed that he had a decent understanding of most issues and had a few good moments between the rambling.

Sadly, this is where we are but doesn't seem like much inertia and support to change things.
hypocrisy, bullying and stupidity on both sides but the left is worse in those categories right now and it’s why I don’t support them any longer. it all started with teachers unions for me...

Let’s wait till Biden is asked questions in the debate by Chris Wallace who has asked to interview him
numerous times and of course hiding Joe only wants reporters who ask softball questions.Plus no
TelePrompTer available to have your staff give you the answers.Biden had the old form of brain surgery
and ask any doctor and he will tell you many people that had that type of brain surgery develop senility
after age 75.No suspense here on what is happening.

Decent understanding? He’s a life long career politician.

Right, and the post above yours says he is senile from his brain surgery 30+ years ago.

He rambles quite a bit but he always has. He is not as sharp as he used to be but I was pointing out that through the rambling he still shows substance beyond political rhetoric which is a contrast to his opponent.

I look at this election as a choice between being punched in the face or kicked in the nuts, neither is a great choice but unfortunately we do have to choose one or the other.
So this is a vote for the lesser of two evils on steroids. total defense vote for the most part.

Two things. First of all why do you have to choose one or the other? Secondly, are people that passionate about hating the other guy so much that voter turn out will be high?

The Maniac vs. The Demented and I can't tell which is which.
Not true. There is only one President in history that I recall that so many of senior officials will not support his re-election. Mattis, Kelly, Scaramuccio, the latest person who was on Pence's Corona Virus. Lest not forget about his confidant and former legal attack dog, Michael Cohen. Then add on the high number of Republicans (Romney, Bush, McCain family) that will either support Biden or not vote for Trump. That is all you need to know. period.

He even attacks his own nominated FBI Director who stated that Russia is again interfering on behalf of Trump and denigrating Biden.

first of all why do you have to choose one or the other?

Because one of them will win. If you prefer one to the other, even slightly, you should pick between them.

Secondly, are people that passionate about hating the other guy so much that voter turn out will be high?

Hard to guess with the Covid impact. Considering 2018 having the highest turnout of any midterm in my life, I would guess turnout will be higher than average.

I wonder if SPK still feels african american community will remain on course with tradition of past elections and not get out and vote this time around. He put that in a thread reply some weeks back.

There’s this thing called voting your conscience. I guess you don’t believe in that. Here’s another way to look at it. You can choose spending the night with either Whoopi Goldberg or Roseanne Barr.

Or you can choose Scarlett Johansson even though your odds would be one in 10 million.

I would just turn out is going to be high as well.

Like I said, one of them is going to win. In my opinion, if you have a preference - that should be where your conscience leads you... If your conscience doesn't lead you to vote for one over the other than you don't have a preference and that's fine.

bad analogy. its more like you are guaranteed to end up spending the night with whoopie or rosanne. voting for scarlett could mean you spend it with the one you really dont want.

That’s why it’s a good analogy. It might be a longshot but it’s still better than having no shot.

Perot was a long shot. There are no long shots this year.

There is a 100% chance Trump or Biden will win the election this year.

That’s your opinion. Sometimes it’s not about voting for who you think is going to win but the message you are trying to send. I figured you would understand that. Enjoy your night with Whoopi.

no becuase its not a long shot its a guarantee it will be one of them
Nothing in life is guaranteed. What happens if Trump or Biden have a debilitating health problem? You don’t think that’s possible?

Anyway like I said earlier. A vote for a third-party candidate is about sending a message that the two parties have failed. Unless you think they are doing a good job.

My conscience could never allow me to vote for either nutcase nor do I understand how anyone could.

I have no idea what you are talking about here, I really don’t, I can find no such thread/post. Please find it or stop lying. You find it, I’ll own it.

That’s fine. I assume that means you don’t care who wins or by how much?

All I was saying was that if you have a preference, then it makes more sense to vote that way.

I didn’t vote for Biden in the primary even though the race was decided. That was my opportunity for the protest vote.

So on one hand you know one candidate is unfit for office and the other is a good man. On one hand you think Biden has lost it mentally, but Trump is not a genius and has repeatedly made gaffes like the numerous mistakes that he made during the town hall. I would say Trump has lost it mentally but I don't think he ever had it to begin with. You know Trump looks to enrich himself, but you have the fear that Biden will be puled to the radical left in which there is absolutely no sign of this.

ISn't It clear that the moderates took control of the Dem party in a landslide. It is just the far left have the big mouths. Biden is and has always been a moderate. From what you post, the clear choice is Biden.

Biden was also cringeworthy last night. There’s a pattern where he goes through periods when he’s angry and yelling and others where he totally loses his train of thought. Signs of advanced aging. And that was in a friendly environment last night. That person I mentioned (Julie Masser Ballay) yesterday did get her question in at the end (after she had to shut him down for interrupting her).

The whole thing is a sh-t show. Neither of them come off as coherent, sharp, or inspiring leaders. I cringe listening to both. It's uncomfortable. These parties are an absolute mess. Trump doesn't get the "old man" label Biden gets because of his energy and fast-talking, but the content of what he says is off the wall.

Just nuts. This is the best we've got in this country? Unreal.

as always, gotta pick the lesser of two evils. honestly i would be fine if biden spends four years not really changing any of trumps policies and just replaces his asshole personality.

Basically where I am. I have Trump Fatigue. What he spews is just nuts and not a standard to be proud of. But I'm not inspired by Biden either after they pulled him out of retirement. Sigh.

The Democrats have this odd relationship with the far-left. They play nice with them for the votes then sort of ditch them. Has been going on forever. They even turned on Obama after he first came into office and kept many GWB policies, not to mention what they thought was a "too compromised" healthcare bill. That odd relationship is more visible now because they allowed Bernie to run in 2016 (he was not a Dem).

Trump is nuts. But I had one ex democrat friend of mine sat this the other day and I thought it was a bit drastic but hard to argue against:

She said, comparing party agendas right now leads to three conclusions: both parties have morphed over the years, republicans spend too much, but PC, cancel culture, union mob, entitlement democrats are really bad for our country unless you rather live in Europe - and she added, they have most recently weaponized a pandemic to win an election and want to give away more things to get more votes, having utterly failed their constituents since Clinton ( I agree with some of that)

again I thought it was a bit over the top but I get the sense a lot of people feel this way and are afraid that an otherwise normal Biden will because of his age and mental condition allow the far left to take hold.

Pretty much and that's sad. I used to be able to rely on the separation of powers but that has gone to hell now that we the people allow presidents to do whatever they want with executive actions and orders.

LOL, big man are you. When it really counts to send a mesage, you back down.

I have a preference and will vote accordingly. I used $ to support my preferred candidate during the primary and will not donate to those who I do not believe in.

That’s how I choose to send my message about the candidates. If I didn’t have a preference, I would vote for a 3rd party.

The message I want to be a part of sending during the general is a rejection of Trump and I want my vote to count towards the margin.

I wish I could reject trump but I can’t buy what dems are selling and it’s not even close.

The Democrats' contempt for the left wing of their party has been going on at least since the wave of post-Watergate Democrats that swept into Congress after the 1974 election (the "Watergate Babies") . These were Democrats from places that used to be Republican and had more conservative demographics. For example, Democrats were elected from suburban districts where union representation was lower. Unions were also being criticized for the growing perception that it was association with organized crime.

This was also when big business started getting its lobbying act together, right at a time when many Democrats entering into Congress were less interested in populism and more sympathetic to business interests. Corporate lobbyists and these new Democrats that had little interest in populist policies got along very well, and this has only continued since then.

The result is neither party truly caring about working people, but that doesn't stop establishment Democrats trying to pretend to be populist and try (unsuccessfully) to court a portion of blue collar voters who will never vote for them, while simultaneously demoralizing the left with uninspired moderate policies that don't address any real issues.

Democrats wonder why they've lost unions and blue collar voters over the past few decades. Well, at least Republicans claim they'll cut their taxes, even if the lion's share of the benefit of their policies go to the rich and corporations.
