At what point does NATO engage? This has turned into a major humanitarian crisis with civilians getting shelled? 1.5 million refugees and Russia has A nuclear power plant held hostage.

NATO engages and there is WW3. With Putin being so reckless, nuclear war is a distinct possibility. This is grave. NATO only engages with direct confrontation when they think Putin is going to go further than Ukraine. NATO is not going to provoke WW3. But it will do everything to support Ukraine.
I heard there were 10000 foreign volunteer fighters that are in Ukraine with probably more coming
These Russians protesting in the streets against Putin are very brave.
I understand it would escalate things, but Putin right now is in a position to hold your apostate by controlling the nuclear power plant alone. Not advocating for an immediate engagement, but it’s a very unstable situation now and waiting for each of his moves creates more uncertainty for all of Europe. A Chernobyl part two that can’t be contained might be far worse than WWIII.
Yes, and then assuming the sanctions and more continue, Russia will collapse (again). Putin will be brought up on war crimes and convicted. He will be removed from the world stage.
Hard to say how long he can last.
Hopefully this time the world keeps their foot on their throat and does not allow them to ever get strong again.
Unfortunately for the Ukraine they will suffer great losses. It is hard to watch in real time but it is clear the world is willing to sacrifice them. Not sure how much of a country they will have left by the time this is over.
That being said we should have a few Ohio class subs nearbye.

Can't say that I agree with his theory.
Suggesting that NATO expansion to the east is a threat to Russia is only real (as in his realism theory) in the eyes of Putin.
Their mission is to promote peace and democracy then to defend each other if attacked.
Correct me if I'm wrong but NATO has never performed an act of aggression. They haven't attacked sovereign nations. They haven't killed women and children. They haven't attacked nuclear reactors.
Reality is that WWIII will not be avoided by weakness.
