UConn and the Big East

To SPK 145 ,

You are right ,he never committed to UConn . Going into the season2014-2015 ,some have posted that UConn had a small lead over Wisconsin ,Maryland for D. Stone . Probably due to K. Ollie and UConn winning the 2014 NCAA . The Huskies had a bad year following their championship .this might have caused Stone to choose Maryland.

HALL85 absolutely no question at all that those football schools want to get into a POWER5 CONFERENCE. My feeling is that UCONN may be in the ACC one day and CINCY may also wind up in the ACC or BIG12. But other than that say TEMPLE UMASS AND EVEN MEMPHIS I cant ever imagine any of those schools being taken. SO as an example say we took in UCONN UMASS TEMPLE MEMPHIS WITCHITA STATE AND DAYTON. Now we would have a 16 team BE and in my opinion very very strong. Would add a big spark and FOX would be happy. If UCONN and CINCY left sure it would be a hit but the league would still be excellent and now we can possibly take in a ST .LOUIS . I know a lot of the fans want us to be with like minded schools and that's fine but in this case I would love to see the league like this. Remember a few years ago VILLANOVA wanted to really upgrage football to see if someday they could get into the ACC. Even Georgetown has football but it will stay as a PATRIOT LEAGUE team but their were some rumore a few years ago that they and even ST. JOHNS would love to go. We see the BIG and the ACC coming here for their postseason tourneys in the near future so hopefully the BE will really be big again. I have a bad feeling though about FOX. But I guess time will tell. But I don't think ESPN would turn away a BE with a setup like this.

When does the FOX contract expire? I think I remember reading the ratings weren't very good. I wonder if the BE games have been at all profitable for them.

If the contract isn't renewed what are the impacts/ scenarios other than losing the $ we get from them and losing the opportunity to watch every BE game? Obviously those are both huge, but will ESPN blackball us even if we don't have an affiliation with any other competing networks?
The FOX deal was for 12 years, so I'm assuming it expires following the 2024-25 season.
