Just looking at the rest of their schedule they could miss the big dance if they don't get their act together. They could finish in 4th place or lower with a not so great record. If that were to happen I can't imagine the UConn fans being very nice to DH!

What would be absolutely spectacular would be we beat them late in season, and based on our dreadful NET, it essentially eliminates them from the tourney.

They have a lot of work to do to play themselves out of the field. The BE back loaded their schedule but if they split their tough games they'll be in with plenty of room to spare.

Yup. And the Big East needs Uconn back in the tournament and there annually.

Winning back to back national championships buys you a certain amount of goodwill, even in Storrs which can be a demanding place.

It should. As a Yankee fan, I can tell you a certain element of the fan base be unrealistic and have outsized expectations. But "flags fly forever". If I'm a Uconn fan, Hurley would have about as long a leash as possible.

Personally, I think Uconn is still 1 or at worst 2 in the league with a healthy McNasty and will still be a legit threat in the dance.

The standards are so high for them, I think with McNeeley they are really damn good at the 2-4 spots. They aren't as good as last year (or the year before), but that should be expected particularly with the "drop off" at the 1 and 5 spots.

Newton was a top flight college guard and is a borderline NBA player who might ultimately stick. It's tough to replace his shot-making ability and everything else he brought to the lead guard spot.

Sanogo/Clingan were top shelf college bigs (the former probably a fringe NBA player, and the latter will probably be in the league for a long time).

Tough to replace that caliber, on top of what they lost at the other wing/guard spots (which I think they've done as well a job as you can at filling).

No surprise the defense is down losing Castle (who I thought was their best perimeter defender last year) and Clingan (who was one of the most formidable defense bigs in the league/country).

This is really a thread on the SHU board after the season we’re having? UConn will be in the NCAA’s and Hurley just won two championships. Find misery somewhere else. It’s not there.

They will come back and get into NCAA.I'm no fan of UConn so I really don't care.
Lunardi has them as an 8 in today's bracket update. There is no coming back to get in the field. They are comfortably in for the moment.

They are not a lock but it's not like they're sweating things out right now. They're not Xavier who is on the outside looking in for now.

They have 3 games they could definitely lose and if they lose them and then lose to SHU they can forget their Post season unless they do damage in the BE tourney.

All I am saying is they should not rest on their resume just yet.

Live in CT. Not a UCONN fan. Enjoy watching both men and women, and have a lot of respect for Geno and CL82. Probably would dislike Danny if not for his five years at the Hall. That said, they will finish strong and be fine, esp. with the return of McNealy.

If they lose to this SHU team, not only should they not make the tournament but they should forfeit the two trophies they just won.

That said, they'll leave us in their dust.
