Unemployment by state

Loss in Professional and Business Services jobs by about 2%. Lines up with what i saw in my industry over the last few months where many accounting firms were laying off between 2-5% of their workforce.

Every other sector added jobs year over year and we have more non-farm employees that we have ever had in the state this last month. Jobs are not growing as fast as the labor force which is also higher than it has ever been in the state.

An increase of 1.2% is alarming but we were at 3% which was extraordinary low for the state.

  • The bad news is that some of the steepest rises were in highly populated California (up 0.8 percentage points) and New Jersey (up 1.2 points).
Phil must be thrilled..... he has always wanted NJ to be just like Cali. And look, we beat them.
