But Felt and McBride said our NIL was perfectly fine! Unreal. This is beyond embarrassing!
McBride is a recent hire and we all knew how difficult this job would be. While I've been unimpressed with his results, I can't say I had high expectations to begin with. Felt, on the other hand, knows this University and knows it well. It's not his first rodeo here and he has been behind the wheel of this bus as it's been driven off a cliff. Whether it's his "fault" or not, he has to be the one accountable for where we are at. His words have been proven hollow and his leadership ineffective. IMO, I'd rather give someone new a shot and see what they can do, as I can't say I have much faith he is the one capable of leading us out of this mess.
Forget counting on them to finding some inspiring approaches to our NIL program, we seem either too incompetent or too unwilling to even copy other program's NIL endeavors. Maryland, Rutgers, UConn, etc are all doing logical and straightforward programs with clear rewards and incentives for the "retail" donor. Why we can't seem to do the same, even at our scale, baffles me.
The USA Today - ugh. They were relevant back in the 80's and 90's when I traveled in a suit and a tie, picked up my messages on pink slips and had to wait at pay phones in airports to check in with the office. I gather no one here under 40 has ever read the USA Today. They are heading to newspaper heaven.
Funny because when I saw headline of “USA Today” my first thought was they announced were shutting down operations.
Someone should make sure that every member on the Board of Regents and everyone in the athletic dept.and everyone involved with fund raising get a copy of this story and how we’ve become a laughing stock.
But they are the flagship (I guess) of the Gannett family of papers, so that story will likely appear in sports sections across their network of papers/news sites. At this point, I don't care much - the word is out and it will be up to Seton Hall to fix it or not. But it's not like it's a state secret.
