You missed the board memo: we root against the US team and want the country to lose because there are players who have opinions that are different than ours.

Getting back to the soccer itself, the USWNT played pretty ordinary soccer earlier in the tournament. They were much better today, but couldn't get one past the gifted Swedish keeper. And they missed a couple of big ones in the shootout. Rapinoe certainly came up empty in her big spot.
I like Japan's chances at this point, but they will have to deal with Sweden next.

I never root against the United States. However, I will root against those who do not respect the United States.
Put women on the National team that will take pride in representing our country.
I wouldn't say that I was rooting against them, but I also didn't pretend to magically care about it when I hadn't previously. I am not shedding tears that a few individuals got humble pie though.
Go ahead...bend yourself into a pretzel excusing the actions of the players. You asked above.... what did they do to disrespect the US?????? if you have to have it explained to you nothing will help your thought process. I made my point in an earlier post regarding Arlington Cemetery. If that was lost on you .... God Bless.
A number of players don’t deserve our respect as they don’t give respect but it’s a small number of players and shouldn’t be projected to the entire team.
I had a tough time rooting for the team because of the views of one or two of the players. That’s on me because the rest of the team are probably great ambassadors of our wonderful country.
