And now it seems their mens basketball is down with COVID.

12 players, 5-6 coaches, trainers and various administrators playing against teams with the same numbers of player etc and somehow we think this insidious virus can be walled out is just fanciful.
Can certainly do things to reduce the chances, nothing is 100% or walled out 🙄

We as a country need to stop blaming people for getting the virus and making them feel guilty. Really do not like the tone from some on this thread.

Bottom line: It is not your fault if you get sick. It is not your fault if someone gets sick from you. It is a virus. It will do what it wants to do and it does not discriminate.

anyone with a concious wouldnt feel this way in reality. if my parents got sick because i went home i couldnt help but blame myself.

there is naturally a middle ground

Someone has common sense.

These are all true. I don’t know when society will say, “Ok, we’re good. We can carry on and treat this with the same risk level we take in our daily lives.” But we’re not there yet. Especially in college basketball given the terms of play. Cases alone are misleading but that’s how college basketball is being managed. It’s absurd.

That point will come as we will not extinguish it. Perhaps once there is confidence in managing it medically, idk. What will that look like? When do we restore? What does it take?

Blaming yourself is different then blaming someone else, Christians are taught not to judge. In reality, should your parents catch the virus from you, they didn't do enough to protect themselves. I'm tired of society absolving people from taking personal responsibility. Protect yourself and you will not get the virus, or, spread it to anyone else.

a parent will never tell their child to stay away. just doesnt happen. thats why i said its in the middle of the spectrum.

plus, if you knowingly have the virus and go outside, yea its big time your fault. and thats happening. common courtesy exists.

Completely false. That is not happening. Most transmission occurs in private, indoor settings.

let me rephrase, leave your house. go to public places. work/office, shopping, restaurants, flights, transit, etc.

so hard to do for 10 days?

Again, that is not happening. Nobody who's sick is leaving their home except to go to get medical treatment if needed. They're not going to a restaurant. They're not going on a plane. They're not going to the store.

If you do not feel right or have been with someone recently that has tested positive and you go see people outside of your home it is your fault and you should feel guilty

Let's hope Villanova and Wright get through this as quickly as you can

Nobody is doing that. Stop with the nonsense around this issue!

Didnt some dude just die on a united flight after misrepresenting himself about symptoms and he put every other person in that tube at 25k feet at risk, god bless 🙏 those that administered life saving efforts to him

One rare exception does not make a rule. You always like to focus on exceptions and make it look like it's happening all over. I feel for you. 🙏

the shut down of the entire program because the HC and another staff member test positive is just stupid. College Football had much more liberal protocols than that. Test everyone in a couple of days and those that are negative should carry on.

College football is an outdoor participation sport, college basketball is an indoor participation sport

Exactly. It’s ridiculous. Between this insane standard and also the aspect of people who feel totally fine sit in QTN for 2 weeks is just bonkers, but that’s where we are. I’d you’re operating that way you cannot have a case.

*Yes I am well aware about the aspect of asymptomatic spread and that’s another area of this pandemic that is being clarified as time passes. That risk is dropping like a stone compared to what was initially feared. I wonder how many viruses we carry all the time but never make us sick if we are able to test them all.

Christians are also fundamentally taught to love their neighbors as themselves. IMHO those who scoff at social distancing and refuse to wear masks are acting in a fundamentally unChristian manner.

this is outrageously false and clearly you have a false understanding of humans. in denial at this point. hell its to the point where people are on video bragging about it at parties. are you cancelling your wedding because you have it? no.

people are generally selfish.

What? Please provide examples of people with the coronavirus leaving their homes as if they have nothing wrong.

this stuff is by its nature difficult to record. because people are not going to admit or tell people. however some idiots do tell or are figured out. and this is not even including the anecdotal evidence found on various social media/forums. people will easily put others at risk so they dont have to be inconvenienced. this is one of those situations where you can pretty much guarantee its happening a lot more than recorded.

Study in england

Around 20% of those reporting symptoms of COVID-19 in England report fully self-isolating by staying at home26 . Rates of self-isolation from other members of a household is likely to be lower due to physical and other practical constraints28 . These rates may be even lower in those who are asymptomatic who receive a test positive result on mass testing given likely lower perceived risk of being infected.

So what's your point? Most people with common sense stay home. There will always be a few idiots out there.

my point is exactly what i originally stated and backed up. its more than a few idiots. and thats just those who tested positive. most selfish people dont even get tested if they have some symptoms. i know someone who had symptoms, claimed it wasnt covid and drove from FL to visit her family this weekend in the northeast.

so much for "nobody" does that. assume the worst in people with things like this.

no you push a specific narrative and call it being realistic. a more subdued wokeness. and then criticize people when you think are being unrealistic... basically anyone who believes covid precautions will help. spare me with the optimism i know youre not that naive. this particular subject goes against your belief that people have no impact in mitigating the virus.

oh look a hot new article drop right on cue

and not just flights. work, grocery stores, social gatherings, restaurants, theme parks, elective drs appointments, public transit,

you need to holiday shop but the store has a paper on the door saying dont come in if you display signs of covid or a positive test etc... you think 9/10 people are listening to that sign?
