Tessa Fournier Repeats as BIG EAST Libero of the Year

Tessa Fournier (Redondo Beach, Calif.) was named BIG EAST Libero of the Year on Tuesday for the second straight season. Fournier was also named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, while teammate
Amanda Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis.) earned Second Team recognition.
Seton Hall takes home Libero of the Year honors for the fourth consecutive season. Former Pirate Alyssa Warren won the prestigious honor in back-to-back seasons in 2012 & 2013 before Fournier won the award the last two seasons.
Fournier had another dominant defensive season, leading the BIG EAST in both digs (583) and digs per set (5.16). In conference games only, she was even more impressive with a digs per set average of 5.57. Named to Louisville’s Active Ankle Challenge All-Tournament Team, Fournier recorded at least 20 digs in a single-match 14 times this season, including a season-high 29 digs vs. St. John’s on Friday. On Sept. 4, she tallied her first career double-double with 21 digs and 10 assists in a three-set victory over Notre Dame.
Fournier’s 583 digs this season is the fifth-highest single-season total in Seton Hall history. This season, she also moved into third place on the Pirates’ career digs list with 1,605, trailing only her libero predecessor Alyssa Warren (2,381) and assistant coach Allie Matters (1,945).
Hansen earned Second Team All-Conference honors for a second straight season. Named to the Seton Hall Classic and Cornell Invitational All-Tournament Teams, she earned placement on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll four times during the 2015 season. Hansen finished amongst the BIG EAST top-10 in kills, kills per set and hitting percentage. She recorded five matches of at least 15 kills, including a career-high 21 kills at Providence on Oct. 7. On Oct. 14 at St. John’s, Hansen notched her first career double-double with a match-high 18 kills to go with 10 blocks.
Earlier this season, Hansen became only the 10th player in Seton Hall history to reach the 1,000 career kills milestone. She ranks amongst the Pirates’ career top-10 in kills (eighth), attacks (ninth) and blocks (third). Hansen is also only the second player in Seton Hall history to record more than 1,000 kills and 400 blocks in a career.
