What a week for the Liberal Agenda.

1)First Mike Pence's wife is lambasted for working at a Christian School. One CNN rep suggested that Secret Service protection for her should be removed because of her values. ( https://americanlookout.com/cnns-jo...ction-because-of-her-christian-beliefs-video/

2)Minimal coverage of the Anti-Abortion rally

3) Running a smear campaign against some catholic high school kids wearing Maga Hats and never really apologizing.

This is an insane time. At what point do we stand up for our values against the onslaught of the leftist news media? The Left wants everyone to look diverse but think the same.

The war on Christianity started years ago but it’s even then worse then that. We have lost our reasoning skills and tolerance. Our liberties are being taken away and it’s so far removed, it may take another civil war to restore. Look what the disgusting Dems are doing with no shame. I think we are standing up and have been.

The bias in "news" media is absolutely incredible. I've never seen anything like it and it gets worse by the day.
I'm not sure who had a worse weekend: Catholics or the news media.

1. You're right. Media was way too harsh on his wife... though I am sure this administration is thrilled to turn the narrative away from the longest shutdown in our country's history over a wall the president promised Mexico would pay for, to Christians being attacked.

2. how is that an attack?

3. I barely ever watch the news but I saw corrections on the story to give a better picture on what happened.

You should stand up for your values. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Jesus said it best I guess.
Love your neighbors but you must deny access to lean at our schools if a child's parents are homosexuals. Also, build a wall on your borders to avoid having to look at those escaping persecution and seeking asylum

I think the branding is off for Christians right now. Probably would be less criticism of Christians if Christian values were closer to the teachings of Christ.

Whaaaaaat?

1). What are talking about?
2). Not an attack, just a cause not covered or even dismissed. You should have an issue with that.
3) sure. Boys lives ruined for life by nazi media again and again, but oh well - Merge says they got it wrong. Move on.

1. Just found it interesting that the longest shutdown in history where hundreds of thousands of people are not being paid and many are still working gets no discussion on this board but criticizing the VP's wife for working at a place with discriminatory policies gets people talking again.

2. Why should I have an issue with it? They do it every year. Its Not really news. There was a similar level of coverage for the last women's March. Did you have a problem with that as well?

3. Based on the videos that have appeared online regarding the kids, I dont think they were exonerated from any wrong doing. The original narrative that they went up to Phillips was wrong but there is a video of those kids harassing girls that walked by, one kid making a rape joke, and yes, taunting Phillips. I saw plenty coverage where reporters said they got the original narrative wrong though.

Well that is nothing compared to the War on the truth by Trump and his lemmings.

Please let's get off the war against Catholics and Christians. They have done enough evil and have got away with it for decades and maybe centuries. The Child Abuse scandal by priests is so far reaching you have no idea. The Church consistently covered this up as innocents were being molested.

I'm gravely disappointed in the Catholic church right now but I continue to practice my faith. With that said the war on anything Catholic or Christian has been going on for some time and it is sad and now it's even destroying places like Notre Dame. Priests I know get spit at and harrassed on the street now and avoid wearing their collar.

The narrative on the kids from Ohio this week is incredibly harsh and no one on the three major stations is talking about how nasty the narrative but when they do they always get in a comment that says but these kids also did this.. I did a lot of dumb stuff when i was sixteen but was not on social media thankfully and none of these aholes in the media seems to remember they were kids once and would have probably acted way worse than these 16 yr olds. The kid stood there and smiled? Instead the MSM keeps trumpeting their narrative over all else. Absolutely no scruples at all. Not sure why but I watched NBC give this crazy native American guy an interview and Hannah whatshername serves up softball questions to him. The guy is a total nutjob and has been arrested multiple times for causing disturbances. And last night I watched ABC and again they say some are saying they should not rush to judgement but others are saying the kids said "build that wall" and did the tomahawk chop and wore MAGA hats. The reaction is like they killed someone when what they did was 100% their right? First amendment is still in play here folks?? So what is so wrong with having an opinion and wearing a hat? I guess if Alyssa Milano says its like the KKK we should all believe her because she is so well respected...

Who were the adults in the story? The American Indian folks who were also saying to the kids to get the F out of the country and worse and who walked towards the kids which to me is inciting trouble. The Black Israeli Movement dudes spouting off all kinds of crazy and hateful stuff about homosexuals. And the kids chaperones who should have moved the kids away while they were waiting for their bus. Meanwhile the social media and MSM is mostly after the 16 year old kids whose rhetoric was the least harsh of any of the other groups? It's absolutely crazy.

And Trump and the Dems continue to hold our government employees hostage which is immoral and simply wrong and yes Merge we should be talking about it much more because its simply wrong. But its also where our Senate and House and President are and they can't get anything done during the year until the budget comes up. They should not use the Federal employees as bait but they are and this is not the first President or Senate/Congress to do it. Their first order once the Govt comes back is pass a bill saying this should not happen again but winning is more important than the American people.

Bad week all around that is for sure. Getting off soapbox. Have a good day and be kind!

You're right. That gets back to the message in the other thread that I am really glad I am not growing up in this era where everything is on tape - Though I like to think I would act with the understanding that everything is on tape, but maybe I wouldn't have.

The kids can wear whatever they want, but the reason they were in DC in the first place was literally because of their faith. I find it difficult to reconcile being a Christian and wearing MAGA apparel as they are opposing principals in my view.

And Trump and the Dems continue to hold our government employees hostage

I'm sorry, I don't see how the dems are at fault here. If Trump wanted his wall funding, he should have passed a bill in the last 2 years when republicans controlled congress.
Democrats won the midterms with their largest margin in a midterm ever. More Americans oppose a border wall than support one and even less support the idea of shutting down the government to get the funding.
If Democrats give in to Trump's demand there is nothing preventing him from doing whatever he wants in the future. No reason why they can't fund the government for 1 month and negotiate a deal that will not include a wall.

Were the kids in DC only because of their faith or because they are opposed to abortion? You know what happens when you ASSume...

Correct on Trump and his wall - he should have gotten it done during the last two years. No doubt. Agree 100%. I think he sees this as a last ditch attempt to get it done.

With that said Dems have an opportunity to protect dreamers so they should be pouncing on some sort of compromise or asking for more if in fact they care about that group of people and want the government to open up? Need two to tango. Me thinks Dems want their name on an immigration bill in two years and don't want it to occur under Trump or a Republican presidency. The chess match continues with Federal workers as their pawns...

Please stop with both sides need to compromise. There was a compromise that was passed by the Senate for 2 billion. Trump then after agreeing to it, then changed his mind. This is all on Trump. Like he said, he owns the shutdown.

Moreover, the operations of the Federal government should never be withheld. There are no contingencies or saying, I am closing the government until I get what I want. There is work to be done and people need to live. The Republican Senators do your job and pass the opening of the government period. Argue about the wall, DACA or whatever other legislation there is after the funding of the government. However, this must end.

A trip organized by a Catholic school that people previously on the trip characterized as a mission? If not for their faith, they would not have been there.
I'm good with my assumption.

We are passed that point. The last ditch effort was the bill that passed the republican controlled house that could not get through the senate.
It's time to move on.

With that said Dems have an opportunity to protect dreamers so they should be pouncing on some sort of compromise
Again, we are passed that point. I haven't seen anything Trump has offered as a compromise. Temporary protections are worthless when he is the one that removed them in the first place.

Need two to tango.
There was a short term funding bill that passed the senate and a compromise bill that passed the house.
The reason why 800,000 people are not being paid is because of Trump.

Me thinks Dems want their name on an immigration bill in two years and don't want it to occur under Trump or a Republican presidency.

Entirely possible that is correct. Now what is Trump going to do as the "dealmaker" to give them on offer that dems can't refuse that will satisfy Ann Coulter?

At what point do we...
...stop being obscenely hypocritical? This thread offers too many proud examples of embarrassment to objective thought.
...stop making really transparent, really stupid, one-sided arguments?
...stop blaming all ills on the other side, while gleefully giving free passes to your side?
...stop with faux outrage over nothing stories (like these), while ignoring serious issues such as Trump's open assault on the rule of law.
...stop thinking of "media" as one entity in lock-step with an agenda. It's too broad a term to cover everything under the umbrella. There are plenty of darts to be thrown at "media" issues. Hundreds of them. It is a nuanced and highly complicated issue though. Too many of the one-size-fits-all media bias crowd use it as a cheap excuse to explain away something they don't like or want to believe.
...pretending we're experts on everything. The average American doesn't know jack squat (our politicians absolutely love this too). "I don't know" is a perfectly reasonable answer to most issues.
...stop being so easily swayed by group identities and emotion.

Americanlookout.com??? You're using a website known for far right propaganda, poor to no credible sourcing, no transparency, and straight up fake news. Holy sh!t... YOU DON'T GET TO COMPLAIN ABOUT MEDIA BIAS! You're actively selecting it. You are willingly consuming poison. As a strict non-partisan (I DGAS about sides), who deeply values truth, fact, objectivity, and rational thought...this sickens me.

If my words have offended some here, good. That's not my intent, but if you are offended...maybe take good long look in the mirror. The problem starts there.

No offense but you’re calling people out for picking a side and in the same breath call out Trump. Pot meet kettle.

I’m all for calling out bad behavior that is party, color, race and gender blind.

Hey @Bobbie Solo any reason why you don't post anymore? I always see you liking posts here and on the free board but you haven't posted in forever. While I don't always agree with your politics, your opinion is valued and your basketball takes (both regarding SH and nationally) are usually spot on.

You're a little bit right and mostly wrong here. I'm calling people out for being predictable lemmings. Those who simply follow the party line with disregard to facts and/or objectivity. People that have no understanding of issues, but blindly ingest and puke out a BS one-sided argument that their party has provided.

I'm not calling out Trump, because of his side. I'm not a Democrat or a Republican. I never have been either and very, very likely never will be. I am calling Trump out because of his actions which fly in the face of the rule of law. I don't have to detail that, right? You're paying attention. So that's where you're wrong on pot-kettle. I'm not objecting to something based on some predictable party BS. I'm objecting to specific actions regardless of political affiliation. Pretty easy distinction.

Agree on your first paragraph....not with you’re second.

I find it difficult to reconcile being a Christian and wearing MAGA apparel as they are opposing principals in my view.

Wanted to follow up on that with the words from Catholic Bishop, John Stowe with a similar sentiment that I was trying to explain.

"it astonishes me that any students participating in a pro-life activity on behalf of their school and their Catholic faith could be wearing apparel sporting the slogans of a president who denigrates the lives of immigrants, refugees and people from countries that he describes with indecent words and haphazardly endangers with life-threatening policies."

I don't disagree with the Bishop at all but his words fly in the face of the first amendment. People can wear any hat they want - as long as its not in church or during the national anthem - lol. With all the bad pub on the church though it might not be the best idea to wear MAGA.

Frankly I think the chaperones again have a lot to answer to in this whole incident from the simplest thing - they should have asked the kids to walk away. And maybe wearing the hat wasn't the best thing to do if they want to keep the kids out of trouble due to the current sentiment especially in Washington.

Does not matter where I got the video clip from. It does not change the fact that a CNN host basically stated that taxpayers should not pay for her protection because of here Christian beliefs. CNN's bias is on display here. Sorry you missed the nuance there.

The faux outrage comes from the left being shocked that she had the audacity to work at a Christian school.

He's not saying they don't have the right to wear the hats.

He's saying that if you are at an event because of your Christian beliefs and are wearing a MAGA hat, you should reevaluate your views.

Well, the media got most of the Maga students v native Americans wrong. But do not tell me that the one kid was not trying to intimidate an old man. Replicate this scene anywhere in America. And you see a young teen trying to intimidate and humiliate an old man.

Sorry in my day, even if the old guy was crazy. You walked away from him. Respecting that he was older and you do the right thing. I could care less how many times the old man got arrested or what his background was. He is an old man. Walk away son. That’s what real Americans do.

I have a former coworker. When he gets nervous he smiles and laughs. It was weird but at his wedding he laughed during his vows. People react differently in different situations and we know nothing about this kid. This is a sixteen yr old kid and you say that is what real Americans do?

How about the old man approaching the kids? Who was the adult? The kid said nothing and did nothing. A smile gets you mad? I think the kid should do jail time he smiled judge? You are part of the overreacting fray.

Well, the website does matter if it’s one you frequent and consider a news source. It’d say a lot about you and none of it good. For all of the legitimate issues with the broad MSM label, that site you linked and it’s ilk are in a league of their own. They are pure trash. Poison. Anyone with an IQ over 70 should know better than to use one.

As for the CNN clip, the first problem is someone is watching CNN...which is somehow an acronym for Unfettered Ratings Whores Network.

The second and potentially bigger problem is it seems like some folks are getting a little cute with the narrative. The blabbing head on CNN doesn’t explicitly say what you state he says. He doesn’t say because she’s a Christian. I’m taking the gist of his questioning as inferring the bigotry/discrimination angle (anti-LGBT), not her religion. Regardless, it’s a stupid question, clumsily posed. She should have SS protection, period.

The whole thing is a big non-story, but go ahead and turn it into a persecution case if you wish. The meme was a nice gesture. Totally doesn’t profile as someone who reads wacko fake news sites. Seriously, get off those immediately.

Like I said, I don’t care how weird the old man is. He’s an old man. If you saw your father in that situation, would you be pleased with the 16 year old just staring him down? I know I wouldn’t. No one is saying that the kid should go to jail or he committed some crime. I am just saying he is.a little shit who was demeaning the old man. Let’s not turn the kid into some innocent who was only just smiling admiringly at the old man because that is BS.

Now, Quite frankly, I did not react at the initial media story because it was much ado about nothing. But, now this new slant that the kid did nothing wrong is just there smiling and is pleasant as apple pie is just garbage.

Once again you’re taking it to extremes. There were three parties involved in this situation. The black Israelites were by far the worst between the hate language and trying to incite the teenagers. It’s also clear Phillips and his group was only interested in a confrontation. They tried to barge in at a mass at the National Cathedral earlier that day and they had to lock the doors to keep them out. They took the aggressive move toward the teens and also said disgusting things. So we had to groups of adults that were trying to incite a confrontation and a group of teens who stood their ground and responded drowning out the hate speech being spewed at them with their school chant. In addition, Phillips has lied about his background and changed his story on each interview he has had.

All in all, the teenagers acted with the most maturity in a situation I doubt they have ever come close to encountering.

Now, Quite frankly, I did not react at the initial media story because it was much ado about nothing. But, now this new slant that the kid did nothing wrong is just there smiling and is pleasant as apple pie is just garbage.
You don't like him because he wore the hat case closed.

As an aside I don't like the hat either but I'm not going to judge a 16 yr old for it who did nothing wrong.

Clarification - I don't like anyone representing their faith wearing a symbol that is divisive. I am glad the Bishop called that out.
Actually I did not mean to copy your post in my last post talking about the hat. I was addressing cernj's post and for some reason your post came along with it.

I think the Bishop has a point - I'm just not willing to lay the blame on a 16 yr old. There was certainly some groupthink going on with that tour group if all the kids had the hat on and they may potentially learn from that. Back to my point about who and where were the chaperones. I'm amazed at how many people can't see how wrong the Indian guy is with his sidekick spewing hate but folks want to blame the kids more because of the hat and because they smiled? Crazy?

Again - We are talking about this in a religious setting.

If you are religious and thing Jesus would condone wearing a MAGA hat to an event representing him, it may be time to crack that bible back open.

The event was over. They were waiting on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial waiting for a bus.

Who cares about the hat. I certainly don't. There were other teens in that group and they were all wearing MAGA hats. Didn't see any of those other students do anything wrong. Just the one kid.

I don't disagree with you on much of what you wrote here. However, I am only singling out one kid and one kid only.

A good old Civil War between the Far Right and Far Left should settle these types of issues. All kidding aside, proponents of each side represent tribalism at its worst. Objectivity goes right out the window and is replaced by blindly following respective party lines.

He stood there and didn’t say a thing....terrible, awful.
