Way too early ESPN top 25 has five Big East teams

Johnnies sneak in the number 25
Our friends down south predicted the BE would be a midmajor conference in 5 years. We have 5 of 11 on this list and the B10 2 of 14. 3 national championships versus zero.

Agreed. The league cannilbalizes each other most seasons except for the truly bad teams, and we won’t be one of those.

My heart (and from a recent history standpoint) over.

But my brain says under...5 or 6 wins especially if Kadary/Davis arent able to play the full season, which they haven't yet. So a pencil them playing 75% of year.

I think we can surprise with a few upsets but im down on this coming year with the league getting mostly better while we went down a tad.

Under.

We got significantly worse. Tyrese Samuel to the kid from Santa Clara is a biggg drop down. Davis didn’t start last yr and will be our best to second best player. Richmond might be the most overrated player in hall history. I’d say I’m looking forward to a breakout season from Sanders, but Dawes will play 34mpg. Shame

Unfortunately 7 our best likely outcome so I would take under.Unless we can get NIL competitive we will be in bottom 3 of conference every year.

Agree Dawes will play a lot. While I prefer him as a spark plug off the bench with better players on roster. He will have to start and play a lot for us.

Sanders is better than most think he is but he plays very slow and with that not able to create separation to create his own shot, while Dawes can. We need that. Could be a good spot shooter/wing for us if allowed to with increased minutes.

With Richmond starting, you can’t have two slow guards on court too long (with Sanders) IMHO. As far as Richmond being overrated. In terms of production, you are probably right but he still has high level potential if he stays healthy and stays in shape.

Samuel is way better than our centers but the way Sha played Samuel last year only 20 min a game, having two serviceable centers might be a net gain.

Let say on a 1-10 scale, Samuel is a 9 and our two centers avg a 7. When you factor in Samuel a 9 and Jackson at center a 4 (avg of 6.5) last year, I can see ppl’s point that it could be a net gain

If Sha played Samuel 30 plus minutes, I would agree with you tho.

Do you think if Davis was healthy and we had legit depth at 4 and 5, that Davis would not have been the starter all year at the 3 last year? He was our leader scorer for a while and from a points per min standpoint, he was prob our best so not a typical bench player.

Yes we are worse. Not sure we are significantly worse factoring in the pieces might fit better to the way Sha likes to play.

in order not to be at the bottom we need 2 more players that can somewhat contribute. In August I don't know if that is possible but we will see. There are still players in limbo so lets see if we can get 2 forwards

Sad commentary here but

I don’t think the addition of 2 players, from the pool of players available, will change our prognosis on where we end up in big east rankings…you have to assume the any real impact player is already on roster at this point.

We can win seven BE games. I'm not sure if we can go higher but seven is doable.

I think our style of play will mitigate the talent discrepancy we will face many nights. It's easier to win games 62-59 than 88-85.

Also we seem to play historically well or close games in Newark against some teams, regardless of the talent differential.
