South Orange, N.J. - The Garden State's most intense and exciting rivalry returns on Sunday as No. 23 Seton Hall welcomes Rutgers to the Prudential Center for the Garden State Hardwood Classic presented by Affinity Federal Credit Union at 7:30 p.m.

The game will be broadcast on FS1 and Gary Cohen and Dave Popkin will have the call on AM970.

GAME PROMOTIONS
  • It's Pirate Pride Week – wear your best Pirate BLUE gear in support of the Pirates!
  • Blue rally towels will be available for all fans and the first 500 students will receive blue glow sticks.
  • The Garden State Hardwood Classic trophy will be on display on the concourse pregame.
ENTRY POLICY
In order to enter Prudential Center, patrons ages 12 and up must...

  • OPTION A: Present proof of full Covid-19 vaccination status (via display of an actual vaccination card, a complete picture of the card, or an online digital vaccination record) or...
  • OPTION B:Wear a mask covering their nose and mouth at all times unless actively eating or drinking.
  • Children under 12 may enter the arena so long as they wear a mask covering their nose and mouth at all times unless actively eating or drinking.
MOBILE TICKETING
Moving forward all tickets to gain entry into men's and women's basketball home games will be fully digital, which will help to make entry to Prudential Center and Walsh Gymnasium safer and easier for fans.

This transition to digital ticketing through a smartphone will also help to make ticket transactions more secure while reducing fraud and counterfeiting. CASHLESS POLICY

Cash will NOT be accepted at concession stands, retail locations or the Box Office.
Pay with a debit or credit card using tap to pay, chip or swipe, or mobile payment, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. For guests needing to convert cash to a card, Reverse ATMs are available with no fees by sections 1, 14, 125 and inside the Box Office Lobby.

  • The two schools are separated by an approximate 27- mile drive.
  • The Garden State Hardwood Classic trophy is custom-made and handcrafted from wood salvaged from the Asbury Park boardwalk in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and features the names of the winners engraved on the back.
  • The Joe Calabrese MVP Award is given to the player of the game on the winning team of the Seton Hall-Rutgers game, and the award is named after the former journalist who passed away in 1999 and was a fixture in New Jersey sports journalism for 38 years.
  • With Seton Hall's win over No. 7 Texas, head coach Kevin Willard tied P.J. Carlesimo (212 wins) for second on Seton Hall's all-time wins list.
  • The Hall is off to its best start since 2017-18 when it began the season with a 9-1 record.
  • The Hall is one of only three programs in the country with multiple wins over top 10 teams this season (Duke, Gonzaga).
  • This season marks the first time in program history that the Pirates have defeated two top 10 non-conference opponents in the regular season.
  • The Pirates' 67-65 win over the Wolverines was the program's 10th all-time win over an Associated Press top-five ranked team and their first-ever on the road against a non-conference opponent.
  • The win over Texas marked Seton Hall's third win over a top seven opponent at Prudential Center over the last three seasons.
  • The last time the Pirates defeated two ranked non-conference opponents during the regular season in the BIG EAST Era was in 2017-18 when The Hall knocked off No. 22 Texas Tech and No. 17 Louisville.
  • Seton Hall was ranked in the AP Top 25 for the third consecutive week on Monday as the Pirates came in at No. 23.
  • The Hall is 7-1 all-time when ranked 23rd in the AP Top 25.
  • Since 2016-17, the Pirates are 18-6 against non-conference opponents when nationally ranked.
  • Seton Hall is 175-63 all-time when ranked in the AP Top 25.
  • The Pirates are 79-11(.878) all-time against non-conference opponents at the Prudential Center and are 5-0 this season.
  • The Pirates have held seven of its first nine opponents to 67 points or less and currently rank 25th in adjusted defensive efficiency by KenPom.
  • After holding the Longhorns to just 7.7 percent (1-of-13) shooting from three-point range, the Pirates now rank ninth in the country in three-point percentage defense (25.6 percent).
  • Sophomore guard Kadary Richmond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is averaging 6.0 assists (29 total), 7.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals for the Pirates over the last four games.
  • Senior guard Jared Rhoden (Baldwin, N.Y.) has twice been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this season.
  • In three games this season against Michigan, Ohio State and Texas, Rhoden is averaging 21 points and five rebounds per game.
  • Graduate student Ike Obiagu (Abuja, Nigeria) has recorded a block in 21 consecutive games dating back to last season.
  • After missing three games with an injury suffered in the three-point loss to Ohio State, senior graduate student Myles Cale (Middletown, Del.) is averaging 11 points and four rebonds over the last two games.
  • Cale (131 games) is now in the top five in career games played in program history and is five games away from tying Mike Nzei's Seton Hall record of 135 career games played.

I have an Android, download the Google Pay app and you can transfer the tickets to Google Pay. App is free.
 
At the VIP entrance, the device they were using to scan would not read it from the Apple Wallet. At least I was tech savvy enough to quickly get to my Pirate app and pull up the ticket with the barcode that has the moving scanner. That worked.
