Well that didn’t take long

The 31 point lead dwindled down to 11 is why the guys were in the locker room for 25 min after the game as opposed to the usual 5-10 min. Dan also mentioned that the 3 players that took questions acted like they got blown out.

So the difference here is Sha is no happier than any of us with the let down in the second half.

Hearing that is actually something I like to hear as a fan. It’s knowing as a coach that the team still has holes.

I think that KW didn’t care how he won — just that he did. And for the most part that’s fine when you win.

It’s an issue when you lose.

The new sheriff in town just expects more from his team.
Everything’s fine if you win. Nobody wants to hear about the holes in your team when you’re losing. They want you to fix it otherwise you’re advocating for your own firing.

I’ve heard plenty of coaches—Sha included—that called themselves out when they lose. He actually said he got out coached against Siena.

If you’re afraid of getting fired, you’re in the wrong business.

I don’t like deflecting blame. I’d rather a coach take the blame for the loss than the schedule causing it, or injuries, or fatigue or whatever.

yes there are but those coaches tend to be big winners in the grand scheme of things. They have no reason to feara big salary loss. You think a guy with a resume like Tom Izzo cares if he bashes himself after every loss? He’s going to win 20+ games. His team can compete with anyone in the country. He will have the softest landing ever if he gets fired. If Willard or Sha are in year 4 at their new schools with 0 tournament games, saying the guys they brought in don’t do things right and they’re not getting the best out of them, say goodbye to that salary. Back to MAAC salaries for both.

Strange how so many are convinced there's no chance Kevin will have success at Maryland. Not saying he for sure will, but wouldn't be surprising for him to take a team there further in the tournament than he did with us.

Yep just like the people are saying Sha needs time. Willard needs time at UMD too!

Huh? Didn't Sha serve under Willard as an assistant as well?
pretty irrelevant considering its blatently clear im talking head coach. unless you forgot willard was at Iona 3 years prior to SHU. and he got unlimited time. Sha is in the same boat as willard 12 years ago, not willard today. not really a deep concept to understand.

willard is a 15+ year established coach. Sha has what 3 years at the poorest school in ncaa?
So that means a coach should walk into a new program and turn it around year 1? It’s taken buzz Williams 2-3 years every stop he’s made. Buzz must be beta too.

The majority of posters have been saying that the MD fan base and administration won't give him that time. MD is not rebuilding for the most part and doesn't need some kind of culture change like SHU did as so many love to wax poetically about here. MD is coming off recent B10 season champs and beating UConn in the NCAA. Then they got smoked by a think a 2 seed Alabama and the fans went crazy. They won't tolerate a TCU type loss or more UCLA type losses.

Turgeon was always under a what have you done for me lately culture at MD and they could have fired him at any time before they reupped him with a low buyout, but didn't want to pay him his full contract amount as required before that. We'll see if Kevin gets cut some slack there.

At some point I hope we talk more Seton Hall basketball than Maryland basketball here, but the Willard obsession is strong right now.

I couldn't agree more but people still talked about Gonzo for most of Willard's tenure. You will always be compared to who you replace.
SnakeTom > Halldan

And I truly believe that. Without Tom this site would not exist. We all owe him so much. He doesn't post much anymore but for those old enough he'll be remembered as a master of his trade with his devotion to the school and incredible knowledge of the sporting scene.

Thank you. But I stand in Tom's shadow. I would never start a website like he did. After all the heavy lifting was done it was easy to do what I do in my retirement following his lead.

Tom and his horn are legendary as they should be. What he has done behind the scenes for the Hall will not be matched.

Just wait until he starts criticizing the Big Ten office for having four of his next six league games on the road.

🤷‍♂️

We're still only in December and he's going off on the schedule and tip times. LOL'd at him holding the BE in high praise as he killed them too when he was here.

"That's what we do!"
