What can be taken from Tuesday?

Smart money will say at least house flips and senate flipping a real possibility.I wonder if Pelosi steps down before midterm to avoid being first speaker in history voted out twice ?

It says the progressives in the Democratic Party need to calm down and take a back seat to moderates and get things done. nothing is perfect and perfection is the enemy of the good. If infrastructure does not get passed soon, Biden’s administration is finished. The swings in fortune here will be dramatic In the next few weeks

What I take from Tuesday-

The republican party can, and should win elections, as the dems push further left. Additionally Donald Trump should be left in 2021, with no place in the party. Youngkin win proves you dont need to kiss the ring.

Except the MSM wants to keep Trump relevant for obvious reasons. Biden needs to tell the progressives to STFU. Kindergarten time is over.

Trump is largely out of the picture. The only people who talk about him are pundits and mainstream opinion presenters.

I went in the voting booth yesterday and pressed the button next to Jack's name. I never once thought about Donald Trump before, during or after.

Youngkin played the Trump issue beautifully. Even the hardcore Dem strategists were crediting him last night.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Biden is their figurehead, clay in the hands of the big pocketed Marxists really running the Democratic Party.

Agree...he needs to, but he won't. If this infighting kills the first infrastructure deal, the midterms are going to be a blood bath.

America needs to pay attention. Too many giveaways to people who don't need it. We should always take care of the poor but what the Dems are doing compensating people for each child and talking about money for illegal immigrants who were separated at the border etc is just crazy. My daughter and son in law and niece and nephew all work have kids and are getting money for the government for each kid and they make a good living $200k+ per year. WTF are we doing? They don't need that money. Take care of folks making $50k and less per year but this has gone way too far. Offer more programs to help those poor people get off the dole and provide child care so they can get back to work. There are many that are afraid to not take that Govt check every month and that is not America. Stop with the giveaways and the 6 months of paid leave when you have a child etc. I took off a few days when we had our three kids and went back to work. We have become so soft and it seems we are trying to mimic Europe. If we want 50-65% tax rates we are on our way because someone has to pay for all these programs and the targeting of the top 1% is never gonna work. They already pay a disproportionate share although we should close the investment loopholes for well compensated folks who run hedge funds etc.

We need to get back to focusing on helping Americans go to work and not incenting people to stay home and out of the workforce.

The folks that voted for change this election are seeing these policies and don't like the direction our country is going in. I don't like it either and hope the voters are speaking loud and clear. Moderate approaches from both parties make sense but the directions we are going in are stupid. Pass a bill that actually focuses 100% on infrastructure. That is a good start. Protect the climate but don't go overboard and stop with the ridiculous giveaways and entitlements. I hope Manchin and Sinema hold their ground. They are heroes IMO.

100% right. Unfortunately too many people just don't care or don't care enough to create change. What Democrats are doing is buying votes - throwing handouts around to keep the masses happy, which leads to the pols staying in power and lining their pockets with the connections they make from being in power. That's what it comes down to.

I know plenty of people benefitting from the child tax credit payment who would never vote democrat, just saying.

His policy centerpiece was the infra/clean energy initiative. If he can't get it through (looks like he won't) it means his political capital is effectively zero now.

That should scare the non-Marxist Democrats as it reaffirms the fact that America has long been the final bastion of the center right in the Western world. The country may be changing but not nearly as much as they would like to think.

I agree trump is not needed

but the guy created a playbook of attacking fat left and doubling when called out for it

Donald Trump should be left in 2021, with no place in the party.

Trump the person, no place. His overall polices, yes.

What I take from Tuesday is a bit of tipping point.

I heard some crazy far Left/Dem interpretations and reactions. One that was over the top was Van Jones calling Youngkin "The Delta Variant of Trumpism"

"The stakes are high. When this election is over in Virginia, we will know... have we seen the emergence of the Delta variant of Trumpism? The Delta variant of Trumpism," Jones said. "In other words, Youngkin, same disease, but spreads a lot faster and can get a lot more places."

It's an indicator the far Left/Dems and moderates who put up with the far left nonsense have gone to far and the voters have reacted.

And so the tipping point I speak of is that the Republicans were on the ropes hanging on by a thread and now the momentum has drastically shifted.

There is a domino effect of insane polices and handling of issues that has been brought to a boil and the voters are saying enough is enough.

This shift is not based on personalities or Tweet fatigue. While Biden is frail, tired, at times incoherent; Pelosi is an 81 year-old psychotics, Hunter Biden is crook, AOC, the Squad etc, voters don't want to hear about the at stuff. They don't care about it. Nothing will shock them. Likewise, people are past Trump. It's a card they continue to play but it has no value.

However, when you sic the DOJ on parents at school board meetings, try to spend trillions we don't have, raise the debt ceiling, cause inflation, cause gas price to rise, allow people to pour through border, consider paying illegals $450,000, embolden China, wokify the military, implement vax mandates and fire healthcare workers, cops, and fireman, increase taxes, and on and on, you get to a boiling point.

Winners:

Younkin
Winsome Sears
Manchin
Sinema
Condi Rice
Niki Haley

and others who want to talk about issues and solve problems.

Van Jones is a loser, race baiting, asshole.

The MSM response to Winsome Sears winning Lt. Governor has been telling. From totally ignoring a historic achievement to signaling that she's a white supremacist. Meanwhile, Joe Mancin is one of the few adults in the room.

The entire idea of "white nationalism" was created by race baiters in the media and democratic party over the last three to four years. It's nothing but a political ploy to scare voters into voting for democrats.

Voters are fed up with nonsense.

Writing a 2000 page $4T spending bill and then being told, "just sign it, and if you don't you're un-American" here's another example of BS that people have no more tolerance for."

When you're young and stupid you sign contracts without reading the fine print.

What is your basis for this assessment? There's no way you can base it on the VA Governor election. McAuliffe couldn't be more moderate.

His assessment is sound and the basis is obvious if you listened to any news in the last week or so.

It’s actually very easy to scroll through and read. (and I don’t have a staff) I’ve read the fine print of the parts I’m most interested in, namely daycare assistance… starts on page 157… https://rules.house.gov/sites/democrats.rules.house.gov/files/BILLS-117HR5376RH-RCP117-17.pdf
