Norte Dame is covering murals of Columbus. This is where political correctness goes way too far. We must place historical figures and judge them at the time that they lived. It was a time of exploration. And Columbus and Spain explored and settled most of the Western Hemisohere.

Taking down Columbus takes away the very reason for the settlements of the new world and the making of this country. Conquerors were always revered in history. Columbus, Cortes, Pizarro, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, etc.

Should the pyramids be destroyed because it was built on slave labor and so many people were killed, perhaps the Collisieum should be obliterated. And Notre Dame, perhaps all of the grand colonial churches should be destroyed because they were built by slaves and so many died in making them throughout the US and Latin America.

Maybe we should rename all the states and cities that had Spanish names, Los Angelos, Texas, Santa Fe, Colorado, Florida and give these states indigenous names since they come from other Spanish Conquistadors who followed Colombus’ lead. Absolutely ridiculous.

Oh and if we are going to be correct historically can we refer to Columbus true name, Cristóbol Colon. That is the way he signed all documents.

This has gone way too far, I really do not understand this "hatred" of Columbus. Our country and this political correctness is becoming an embarrassment.

What I don't get is what is the end goal? Even if you are somehow offended by Columbus, do we really want to erase history or "remove/destroy" works of art?

This feels like pure censorship and we really need to be cognizant of that. There was an interesting article on Axios the other day that pointed to the decline in trust that the public has in institutions (government, business, media, etc.). You wonder why.

Notre Dame and Georgetown are now politically correct, leftist organizations. They are an embarrassment.

when we went to Spain we saw the throne room in Segovia where Columbus went to Queen Isabella and asked for the money to explore the new world.

Then while we were down in Sevilla we saw Columbus' tomb which is in the Sevilla cathedral.

I can't imagine crossing the ocean in ships that size not knowing what the heck you're going to find. If you ever look at the size of the Nina it was not a big vessel.

I guess if Isabella had known that he was a racist exploiter she may not have given him the money. Lol

I like this, but you're confusing the issue with logic.
