Most likely no position. Maybe Delgado. Maybe whitehead over VanVleet (but he is def a better PG than IW).
We at SHU love to over exaggerate our talent levels re other big time programs.
I think everyone has the homer glasses on when talking about their team. This is how I see it for WSU.
PG: Van Vleet and Frankamp
Your PG is probably more athletic, but I wouldn't take ANY PG in the nation over Van Vleet. He just makes everyone else better. Frankamp is just in his 3rd game in a year and a half, so I don't expect crazy production from him, just a few good shots
SG: Baker and Frankamp (Shamet is still injured)
About the same as above, Your SG is probably more athletic but Baker just has all the intangibles. He plays hard defense, and knows how to create his shot when needed.
SF: Brown and McDuffie
This one is probably a toss up between the 2 teams. This is probably our most athletic position, but its hit and miss whether they actually "Show up". The first few games of the year they were both very timid and didn't want to drive or shoot. The last 4 games or so, they have really started to step up and take on some scoring. Zach Brown is an excellent defender, McDuffie is still learning all his assignments, but just oozes potential
PF: Wessel and Kelly
This one is edge to SHU. Wessel does a lot .. but he's a 6'4 PF. Though if you watch the game, I guarantee he will gain WSU at least 5 more possessions by grabbing loose balls, tieing people up, taking charges, or just getting in the right place at the right time. He's the poster boy for a glue guy. He's only going to score on put back and 3's, not really a threat to drive. Kelly is a good rebounder but has struggled getting into the offensive flow.
C: Morris, Wamukota, and Nurger (Grady is still injured)
This is probably an edge to SHU also. Morris is 6'8 260, Wamukota is 6'11 235, and Nurger is 6'10 244. They do a good job on defense of forcing post men away from the basket. Having 3 big men gives us 15 fouls to give down low. They held 2 quality centers in Zimmerman and Poeltl to 11 points each. On offense, none of them have really good back to the basket moves, but still can score when needed.
So looking at that, it looks like we have 2 for WSU, 2 for SHU, and 1 push. So should be a great game either way. I predict a close win by WSU (homer pick

), leaning on our experienced guards to pull us through.
