Why does shaheen love Dual?

The team is relying on heralded HS recruits that didn’t pan out at their first stop and mid-major players, some who were pretty good there. None of these guys are stars or top players as we couldn’t afford it. But we got decent volume. 10 new players. Give it some time. There’s some potential.

I agree. But this loss was maddening for sure. That final turnover was especially egregious. The three point foul on Aligbe was outrageous; there was zero contact. Maybe Dual and Middleton come around but they have been atrocious so far.

Could not agree more. Harmon must play more minutes. He's also a really good defender.

I'm starting to wonder if there is something else going on.
Honestly, I have no inside information, but Harmon has the most productive college experience coming here. He was definitely told he would play major minutes, and then all the stuff with Dual happened and he was placed on the back burner.

I’m sure Harmon was pissed about it

Seems like Shaheen fell victim to the same thing scouts do. Wanting and then playing players based off their “measurables” rather than talent.

I'm not sure that is right about what was conveyed to Harmon. My recall of this over the summer was that we had an offer to Harmon "on hold" pending whether we could snag a few better PG options the staff was chasing. We missed on all those kids, and took Harmon. But still didn't stop recruiting, and got Dual. So, I don't think Harmon was promised anything about major minutes.

On the other hand, I have no doubt Dual was told he'd have an opportunity for major minutes with the ball in his hands, because otherwise he wouldn't be here. I know people aren't happy with him through 2 games, but this is a kid who rightly or wrongly is clearly looking to get to the next level as quickly as possible. He even flirted with it this year despite a subpar freshman season at Providence, and he's been on the NBA radar since he blew up his senior year in HS, which is why his recruitment out of HS was so hotly contested between Providence and Gtown (once Cooley left Prov, I believe), and why it was considered a major coup for Kim English to hang onto him out of prep because some thought he'd be following Cooley to DC.

And English just magically let him go out of the goodness of his heart lol, the kid is no good. Let Harmon cook!

For real. I'm sure Dual wants to get to the next level, but apart from a few highlights there is very little the suggest he is even close. Some of these other things are really concerning if his shot is not falling. 1 Rebound in 2 games as a 6'5 guard is absolutely terrible. a 6-5 assist/turnover ratio is terrible against extremely low competition.

There wasn't a kid on the Saint Peter's roster that Sha took to the Elite 8 that would anyone would take as a transfer over what we have. Yesterday sucked (and I was AT the game the last time we look to Fordham), but Coach has faith in this bunch. Give it time.
Not the first or last time we will lose a non conference game. Things are going to be ugly for awhile, wake me up in January when they are passing the ball. We have a full roster of guys looking for playing time, guys are pressing to do well right now to find their roles. I’m thinking Wusu needs to come off the bench and not start. Wusu is a dribbler and not a passer and sets the wrong tone. Chemistry is wrong but Sha will figure it out.

A point guard has to have teammates that can score the ball. Who does he have on this roster who can shoot and score or get open to take a shot once they have the ball? Dribble drive to the hoop and dunk or stop and pop? I did not see any of this.

The other problem which is bigger is we do not have a rim protector. Fordham somehow had one. If we don't have a rim protector we are done for. Maybe the 7 footer plus on the bench can at least block shots and rebound? If he can't do that why is he here? We desperately need that.
