Why We're Better Than People Think

Our ability to beat teams up on the glass is going to pay big dividends come conference play. We're a poor shooting team but when teams can get 2nd chance points it makes a huge difference.

I am far from a Willard supporter, but I think we might surprise some people this season.

If we can go 7-2 at home in conference play, and find a way to 3-6 on the road we should be in the discussion come March. I know I am getting way ahead of myself, but this rebounding will play a huge role on the road in tight games.

The sophs are gonna be real good. Havent seen that much potential at Seton in a while. Very athletic and play w no fear. Watch out next year, but I wouldn't discount how much they could mature this season and make some noise. They do need to D up a little better, though

One goes hand in hand with the other. The poor shooting has teams playing various zones against us. That makes it easier to hit the offensive boards. And when Delgado is doubled down low even easier on the weak side.

I guess it depends on what the 10-8 consists of, but even then, with no strong OOC wins to point to (pending Wichita State), our case would not be very good.

I want to be optimistic, but think we will be in trouble when playing against big, athletic front lines.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but rather keep expectations low. Question is whether or not we will figure out ways to win games in the Big East on the road and against top half of the league.

I'd say our over/under for wins in the Big East at this point is 7. You'd like to think we can clean up against the bottom third of the league which as of now has to be St. John's, Creighton, and I suppose DePaul.

Most teams would. LOL

But we stand a better chance against them than we have recently.

Got to figure a way to get Soffer in for a couple of minutes here and there.

It amazes me that on December 11 posters are saying that with a 10-8 BE record we have no shot at a bid. I am not at this point claiming we will get one or even claiming that we will have 9 or 10 wins but there are so many other factors involved. Let's let the season play out a bit with us, with our BE competition and with the records of our OOC foes. I like what I see thus far but I also realize how good some of the other BE teams are. .

Didn't USF go 11-7 in conference one year and were still a bubble team. They ended up making the dance but if might have been in the play in game.

I think there best win was against us.

Just looked it up...unbelievable. They went 12-6 in conference. made the tournament by the skin of their teeth as a 12 seed in the play in game.

The rebounding is refreshing, isn't it? If it stays this consistently aggressive throughout the season it will undoubtedly be a huge help in every game.

Players like Carrington, Desi, Nzei, and Sanogo are much better than I thought they'd be. Whitehead is not and Delgado has been spotty. Not sure what we are yet as a team, but the ingredients are there. Need to be prepped and cooked well.

Too soon to tell with this coach. We really won't know until January (or later). I've seen this movie before too many times.
