The Giants - New Low. Approaching Howard Beale Status

Whole thing looks terrible. This is how firings and resets happen.

Football is crazy people check out. Also seems entire org even the team he cost wins to was all in on Jones bc he was nice and worked hard.

The GM has not been bad. This years draft class has received high praise from around the league. The trade and then signing for Brian Burns has been terrific as he’s a stud.

Daboll knows he’s extremely limited with Jones. That’s the major issue at this point. In years past they had a roster with little talent. The giants are solid everywhere but CB and TE and maybe OL depth but there’s plenty of talent

I was a big defender of Daniel Jones but he has sadly regressed since winning the playoff game. It was a gamble at the time but as of now he is a complete shell that doesn’t have the ability to win. He’ll be gone next year and then we’ll see how it goes.
There are no studs on the defense and Burns was not good today. And the last 2 weeks the starting OTs were out injured that they went against. The defense has been destroyed by opponents almost all year.

Can't blame Jones anymore. They play horrendous in that stadium. Clean House and Reset.

Bad QB play, bad DB play, bad WR, play bad TE play, bad LB play, bad OL play. The only unit that plays at a playoff caliber is the DL.
Not stopping the run by the DL at any level. There is nothing at a winning level never mind playoff for 2 years now with this organization.

It’s not organizational failure; They have bad quarterback play.. it’s kinda like having bad PG play even tho both are very experienced.. see what I did there?
It is organization failure. Poor roster construction, the injured kicker fiasco, poor salary cap management. Hell they just asked McCloud to take a pay cut because they wanted cap money. No depth at DT, over drafting Banks, Robinson etc. and giving up picks to get them. Throw in some draft busts too. Yeah the GM is doing a great job.

In the last 10 seasons the Giants have two winning seasons , 2022 when they were 9 -7 -1 and 2016 when they were 11 - 5 and that speaks volumes about the organization.

Okay yeah a lot of that’s true. But my point is what team and GM doesn’t have the same issues? Hiring a new GM is gonna just make perfect moves for the next 10 years? It doesn’t work that way. You wanna turn the Giants into the Jets organization of new coaches, GM’s and QB’s every 3 years be my guest.

There is no magical way to do this. Some are worse than others but sometimes it takes time to get it right.

I think Daboll is in trouble, but Schoen safe either way.

Schoen

1. I understood why they didn’t re-sign Barkley and McKinney. This was the known risk on optics with them going to good teams.

2. The players they brought in this offseason have been improvements: The OL, Burns, and the 2024 Draft. They’re young, have no depth, but that was the case in the summer too.

3. Jones’ QB play held the team back dramatically. This roster wasn’t great, but it’s good enough to be mediocre and should not have been 2-8 before the bye. I wouldn’t take bows at 5-5, but still, that’s relevant, competitive, and in the playoff hunt.

Daboll

1. Team plays an extremely sloppy brand of football, has all year. They make a TON of mistakes and make strange decisions.

2. They’ve lost 6 consecutive games, never leading in a game. NFL teams break when these things happen, this sustained ineptitude.

3. Replacing the QB had a much bigger impact on the locker room than I ever would’ve thought. It looks like a tank may be the problem? But Daboll is supposed to have the pulse of that and ability to communicate.

4. Now you take what’s happening on the heels of replacing all the coordinators, the drama with Wink, and it looks terrible for him.

While there is no argument that you need a high caliber QB to win in the NFL you must surround him with the assets to succeed like a good O-Line , a complimentary running game and big play wide receivers. Drafting a QB next year will require a much upgraded O - Line to see improvement in the Giants offensive results.

I don't think there is any doubt Daboll has lost the team. His game plan yesterday was bad. I knew Todd Bowles was going to pressure him - who didn't? Instead of designing the offense to get the ball quickly out of Cutlets hand, they run and call dropback pass plays? They adjusted in the second half but the game was over. Then when they are driving, running the ball well and its first and goal from the 5 early in the 3rd quarter, Daboll calls another trick play and they lose yards?? What the heck? Did he not learn from the last time he called a trick play. They were running the ball well. Keep playing physical and run it down their throats and get some momentum. He's pressing with his play calls and losing the offense and Nabers for sure.

I believe Schoen has committed malpractice with the Giants many times. He inherited a difficult cap situation but he's not liked in the locker room at all. I saw a TV host (former football player) say over the weekend that free agents are not coming to the Giants with the way they have handled their free agents. Telling. I don't like too much change but Schoen IMO has done a hair better than Gettleman. That is a low bar. The Giants beat writers are starting to sense it too and are circling. The Athletic had a fan survey today and NJ.COM and NY Post articles are questioning Schoen and Daboll on everything. The drum is beating.

They are both done. Daboll could be done next week when Dallas rolls over the Giants on Thanksgiving.

Saw that the Jets have retained Mike Tannenbaum to assist them in their GM , head coach search. If the Giants sever ties with Schoen and Daboll it’s likely they would bring in an outsider to assist them iin their search as well.

100% agree. Sadly, this has been the case for the past 12 years. since they last won the SB. Sort of the same scenario as our point guard situation.
