We should be fine for the other games we have this month.

But I need him back for Big East play.

Although I think Nzei is turning into one of my favorite players on the team.

I love the fact that Delgado is not a solo act on the boards anymore. And he actually has support this year.

It's really great to see us active on the boards in waves aside from just relying on Delgado, which we did a lot last year. It's been years since we've had this. The energy, grit, and determination that Sanogo and Nzei are providing the team is just outstanding.

Desi's pretty good in there as well.

Sounds like Sanogo's injury wasn't as bad as initially thought, thankfully.

NZei needs to see a fair share of minutes. More athletic than sonogo.

Healthy competition is another great attribute of depth. The staff deserves a lot of credit for how the improvement we've seen in many of these players. Here's hoping it continues throughout the season.

Nzei can't defend 5 positions like Sanogo, but he is more athletic.

Nzei is very athletic but so is Ish. In fact Ish has a very good handle and can defend multiple positions. I also think Ish may be a little ahead of Nzei defensively right now as well as his understanding of the game. Suffice to say as these two develop, they both have high ceilings and it will be fun to watch them improve every game. Both give us a lot of hustle and bounce out there which we have not had in some time.

Will be interesting to see how they match up against bigger, stronger 4's. Have not seen that yet.

You can never underestimate the importance of having quality depth on a team but you can see how with a few more pieces and another year's maturity and experience next year's team could go 10 deep or more. Right now you have Nzei and Ish at the PF position and Desi and Singh at the small forward and Anderson to give Angel a blow . For guards next year you have IW, KC, JT, DS and Powell. Would hope that Carter makes the same level of development that Ish did from freshman year to now and that could be a real plus. Would I love for SH to add a graduate senior to next year's team who is a legitimate center and that could make us a very dangerous team next year.

Did we actually get a diagnosis on just what happened to Ish?? Ish/Nzei, I would like to see them both on the court at the same time few a few minutes here and there.

I'm no Doctor and I don't know the extent of Ish's injury but I have dislocated my shoulder / tore my labrum so I can speak from experience.

It's very painful and it's a long long long recovery. I couldn't even move my arm for a solid 4 weeks. And even after things like putting on a shirt, seatbelt, etc were challenging. My injury occurred last January and I still have pain and can't do certain things.

This is the first time in a long time I remember us having :
  • "bigs" who can CATCH the ball in the paint consistently and flush it (Nzei, Ish, Desi, Angel).
  • "bigs" who can get an offensive rebound and create second chance opportunities
  • a slasher who can consistently finish a layup (Carrington)
Seems SO simple - but these fundamentals are making us real strong in the early going.

Agreed. I don't think we've had this good of a front court in a long time. I"m surprised by our amount of points in the paint.

how about: ANYONE THAT CAN DUNK

Saturday was an epiphany

Agreed. I feel bad for Ish but I am glad Nzei is getting his time and showing the he deserves more minutes. He seems like a smart player - positions himself well so the guards can find him when they draw his defender away on offense and knows how to rebound.

Really liked the look of the front court with Delgado, Nzei and Desi.

Carrington and Gordon seem like they have a decent groove, Whitehead really needs to focus on distributing and letting the game come to him. He is still forcing way too much.

Ish out for Troy back for St Peters. Injury apparently not as bad as originally thought.
