Willard - Mic'd Up

I've seen a few of Willard's practices. He's great at developing ball skills and technique. His practices are non-stop and full of energy. His best quality as a coach is developing individuals skills and he learned that from Pitino. If he could ever learn to coach an offense he'd be really good but I bet he's successful at Nova. He and his family hated Maryland. This is probably his last stop.

Good job again by Nova and their marketing team. Received a copy of the Nova Nation email sent yesterday to all boosters from their AD. Great communication about the settlement and what Nova is doing and how the boosters/fans can help. A professionally run program vs. ours which continues to be an embarrassment in marketing and keeping the fans involved. Just more of the same - go to Corks and Forks - wtf???

And all it took was 15 years and a miracle buzzer-beater against a 12 seed!
But he did it. It took time, he wasn’t getting to the NCAA quickly taking over a 10 win Iona team (he got them to 24 wins I think in three years) and a laughing stock SHU team. Man, that buzzer beater must have broken your heart.

Why did he and his family hate Maryland? What’s the story there - other than what he said to the media during the tournament?

You would have to ask them but I know his wife and sons were not happy there and missed their friends and some family that had moved to NJ. Can't be easy being a coaches family and having to move around a lot - Kevin experienced the same as a kid.

Yeah, it’s called their job. They do this for a living. Shame on them for leaving for more money.
Willard’s exit from here and MD were poorly handled on his part

And where did I say they couldn’t or shouldn’t leave for more money? What is the need to deliver snark to fellow posters?

Willard left shu because he felt he was finally cashing in at a P4 level with all the great perks and money...I feel Willard was uneasy that the AD that hired him was moving on along with other athletic admin budget reasoning and determined he would be gone as long as he had something to do to when he season was gone

It was disappointing, but still, after so many year and with plenty of teams good enough to do it, it can clearly be seen as an aberration.

I'll admit it was fun to use that fact to shit on a guy who always treated our best fans like a nuisance and acted like he was too good for our program despite not being able to get us over even that modest hump in a dozen years.

Modest hump? The last 16 teams in the country playing for a national title is a modest hump? When’s the next time you see us getting over that modest hump?
