They say that good teams win close games. Well this years Pirates were blown out a few times, but they won just about every close game that they played in. What a finish down by 7 points in the final minute then scoring the games final 9 points to win the NIT Championship. WOW, WOW, WOW !!!

Agreed, but isn’t thst ironic that these same metrics were the Achilles heel that kept them out of the tournament.

The algorithm needs to be adjusted

That was one thing about this team. They just had a knack for closing out and finishing close games - no matter what it took or how down to the wire it went. Yes, there were the blowout games - and they were indeed frustrating as all hell - but the vast majority of the time, if it was close this team had the will to take it. They had that clutch gene….perhaps even more so than some of our tournament teams that advanced. Obviously there were games where it didn’t pan out that way(home games against Providence and Creighton come to mind), but I will remember this as one of our most clutch teams.

Great comeback but they were not down 7 in the final minute. The seven point lead was just under 3 minutes when Sha took the timeout. Then the comeback began with getting Richmond back in. Great great win!

Also the narrative is we rallied to win. This is true. But we controlled the entire game.

Interesting in a game where the refs let them play, we had foul trouble plague us. In my mind, it is the only reason ISU was in the game.

Would love to see the +- with our starting 5 on the floor last night.

We did lead more of the game and had the biggest leads. So if anyone could have blown the game, it would have been us if we hadn't won
