SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall head coach Sara Doell announced Wednesday that Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.), Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) and Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) have signed national letters of intent to play women’s golf at Seton Hall University beginning in the fall of 2016.

“Sometimes you get a recruiting class that exceeds your expectations, and that’s this class,” Doell said. “All three of these student-athletes fit exactly what we are looking for - great players who have a passion for golf with good personalities and a strong academic background. I am so excited to see what the future holds for Maddie, Sammie and Lizzie as they join the Seton Hall women’s golf family!”

Sager is a three-time All-Area Girls Golfer of the Year, and has twice won the Pioneer Athletic Conference individual championship. She tied for first at the District 1-AAA championship, before eventually falling in a playoff, and finished second at the State Tournament. A two-time Philadelphia Girls Junior Tour Player of the Year, Sager is also a force in the classroom where she was a National Merit Scholar semifinalist.

“Maddie is a great player who has just started to scratch the surface of her potential,” Doell said. “She is a very organized and thoughtful person both on and off the golf course. She has a good deal of length off the tee, and a solid short game, which I believe will help in her transition to college.”

A three-time Chesmont League Tournament champion, Staudt is a four-time Girls PIAA State qualifier and the 2014 Pennsylvania Girls Junior Amateur champion. A four-time All-League selection, she once recorded two hole-in-ones in a single nine-hole round at Inniscrone Golf Club. A National Honor Society member, Staudt is the recipient of the Congressional Scholar-Athlete Award for the seventh Congressional District.

“Sammie had a visit to our campus last year and I knew right away that she had the personality, the sense of humor and the work ethic to fit in with this team,” Doell said. “She is a very athletic and naturally talented golfer who knows how to get it done. Her strength and distance, along with her athletic and competitive nature, are going to play a key role in her college career.”

One of the top players in the State of Ohio, Win is a three-time champion of the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) Tournament and was twice named TRAC Player of the Year. A Four-time Northwest Ohio First Team All-District selection, she is a two-time district champion and won the sectional championship in 2015. Twice named to the All-Ohio OHSAA D-1 State Championship Second Team, Win is also a three-time All-Academic Team member.

“When I first spoke to Lizzie on the phone, I knew that she would be a perfect fit,” Doell said. “She is very smart and has a lot of passion for the game of golf. She is talented, has good fundamentals, and has a strong head on her shoulders, which I believe will take her a long way in her career as a Pirate.”
