Officially bottom of the barrel. Probably the worst team in all the power conferences.

How can anyone argue that there doesn’t need to be some sort of change within the current regime? Everyone saw what NIL was going to become, yet it took the school and the AD years to get serious about it. Now we are feeling the consequences.

And we’re supposed to trust that Felt, Lyons, and McBride are the brain trust to get us out of this mess? Insanity is repeating the same process and expecting different results.

Typically the ones that got you here aren’t the ones to lead you out, but I’d be surprised if all the personal relationships there made any major changes.

They either didn’t recognize what was coming or were inept at handling it. So what changes?

I think in the NIL era our ceiling is Shas first season (17-16, 10-10). Maybe we win the Big East tournament once every 25 years and go to the dance (which will be the Big 10, Big 12, SEC tournament soon enough). The good days are over.

Tht was nearly our ceiling before NIL….

I fear that ineptitude is the more likely answer. We keep hearing about all of the “progress” SHU is making in NIL yet the gap between us and the rest of major college sports only gets wider.

Maybe we’re destined to be relegated to laughing stock status no matter who calls the shots, but there’s no harm in making a change at this point.

Whoever has an ounce of leadership and really gives 2 sh!ts about SHU needs to step and make some hard decisions.

Seems like McBride is servicing no purpose right now, so eliminate the position and bring in a Business Development Sports Marketing Exec who is focused on all aspects of increasing revenues across all Marketing channels. Please decide between Pat Lyons or Bryan Felt as to who is the true AD and eliminate the other person’s position. PB needs to be rethought from just a traditional fund raising function and now be all about Revenue maximization across all channels. Get the right people in those positions.

Dont attend anymore games. No offense to the players but speak with your wallets......then they will act

I feel like the season ticket renewal request will hit our inboxes any day now. I just hope I’m not drinking anything when it hits so that I don’t have to buy clean up a mess.

I'm not sure what pat lyons position is but what's the point of Felt? Guy was a ticket salesman and got an AD job at the lowest level. Was only hired cause he is an alum.

If things weren't bad enough on the court, we arre own to 9 players with 6 of them being unskilled 4s & 5s.

It’s on all of them. Sha, Felt, Lyons and all of our past Presidents swinging thru the revolving Presidents door. Also heavily on our biggest donors the BORs. Sha has to lead the NIL charge though. He’s the one that has to be the face of the program and tell these folks to get it done or get out of the way. It’s on him first. It’s a major uphill battle.

In the court, this is also the first year in a long time where you are seeing very little improvement in how the team plays and that’s on Sha. It’s a monumental task with this flawed roster and now the injuries. But they seem very disjointed and make the same mistakes over and over. Tough to watch our program right now.

We were almost 2 years behind everyone else in preparing for NIL. Then we imposed rules on ourselves that no one else did. That put us further behind. Since then, we are falling further behind while trying to play catchup. Someone or several people need to be held accountable for their inaction. Heads need to roll or we will be bottom of the Big East for years to come.

Good point about revolving door Presidents. This our 3rd in 10 years? Talk about continuity with the team and players, how about some continuity, commitment and competence from SHU’s institutional leadership.

And we were told all along we are not behind - for years!!

Yes, we are the worst team right now in the league, but it can change by next year.

First, I'm praying we are targeting a bigtime point guard. We must outbid other schools for this player. Not sure if there are any high school kids left that fit this criteria but that would be great. If not they'll have to charter the murky waters of the Portal. Keep Middleton and go from there. I would jettison anyone or everyone to do so. Hopefully, the University straightens out their current issue and we move on, This doesn't have to be Armageddon for SHU basketball.

Had a brief conversation with a close friend who is on the Athletic Board of a Power Conference School with a Football Program. We had a brief conversation about Richmond. I speculated to him that Khadary received about $800,000 range from SJU. He said that sounds about right. Assuming Khadary got even more than that, I'm hoping we could get a quality PG in that speculated range. As i said i would do that and let our top players go to do so. In addition 1.5 is not going to cut. That part I totally agree with you.

Perhaps I have missed it, but have we (the public) heard anything from McBride recently? My understanding (perhaps incorrectly so) was that he was going to be pretty visible and active in communicating with the fanbase. It seems like neither has been the case for quite some time now.

This all very much feels like a bad venture capital deal. We are essentially the investors who keep getting hit up for cash infusions but it doesn't seem like anyone in charge is forthcoming with real updates or news of note. I would rather hear about our failed attempts than nothing at all.
