I'd agree I'd like to hear more from him but I fear the reason we don't is because he has nothing to tell us. The product is a tough sell right now and his job is akin to selling ice to eskimos.

I'm inclined to agree, but again, silence is worse than bad news. If people don't see you or hear you, they presume you aren't doing anything. It's an unfair take, but I believe that to often be true in this space.

Tell people what trees you are barking up and let them know they didn't succeed. In no other world can you continually ask for more and leave the investors completely in the dark. This is a new world. We aren't "donating" money anymore. These are investments in the program, with the payoff being wins and championships. If I give money, the team fails, and you don't tell me a damn thing along the way...why would I invest with you again?

Unfortunately, It's all about bringing in money. You can replace all three of them, but at the end of the day their replacements will also fail unless big donors step up.

Felt, McBride, and Lyons have had 4 years to get the big donors to step up. If they haven’t been able to do it, then what is the harm in giving someone else a chance?

Not defending them but they did get the big donors to give for the practice facility which at the time (3 years ago) was the #1 priority. The timing of all this could not have been worse.

You are right. The delusional ticket staff will send it out, likely with an increase and then tell us how if we commit and pay early we can get a SHU beenie!
How about this: I give you nothing. You hold my seats until I see what our team is. Then and only then will I pony up the money.

But really how many miracles can a team perform with the money that’s available?

Would everyone be happier if the team won all the poor OOC games and went 6-14 in conference and nothing happened? To just push this issue off until next year or the year after?

Would a record of 15-17 been really better?

It’s been an inexorable crashing meteor since Dre and Kadary left for more money.

This just pushes the timetable up quicker for something big to happen.

If nothing happens, then we all save money for not paying for a few more years of less than mediocrity.

4 years and what to show for it? Classic middle management type, tread water, don't make waves and you can have a 6 figure job for many many years

Kenny Payne also went 4-28 and 8-24 in two seasons.

For whatever issues Shaheen might have he won 42 games his first two years here. He's given himself some room to play with for now.

I don't think we are asking for Miracles at all. If the excuse is NIL, then we should be beating teams that are close to our NIL. We would like to see an upset against a team with a higher NIL...this shows donors that there is potential and that Shaheen is someone they can invest in.

Instead, we are getting destroyed by teams with similar NIL and those who have was less resources than even we do. We have become the worst power conference team in the country by far.

I think everyone is hoping that some donor will see the program is terrible, and will come in to save it...I see it the other way- when the program is terrible, it seems unlikely that someone is going to come in to save it because why would you burn your money away?

No the NIL for SHU’s team this year is around $1.5-1.7mm (it’s been printed many, many times on here); not nearly enough to truly compete with.

If you think it’s all about coaching and just want blood, I have to tell you that it would be minimally better with a different coach. It is what it is with what you can buy.

Is some of this season on Sha? Of course it is. He shifted away from dependence on 3 players and thought a more balanced approach would work. It’s been a disaster.

But his performance in his first two seasons has earned him a longer leash.

What new coach will come in and get donors excited to give money??

Seton Hall has never had a power conference established winning coach jump ship to coach here. Isn’t gonna happen.

I don't see the NIL situation changing much regardless of who is the coach. I think success would bring in more fair-weather fans and $50-$100 donations, but I'm not sure there would ever be enough of them to really boost the budget into a competitive range.

I'm more concerned that this disaster of a season is going to make our bigger donors reassess how much they're contributing. I couldn't imagine giving tens of thousands of dollars, if not more, to the NIL and this being my return on investment. I certainly don't think I would be inclined to double down and give even more for next season.

If that's the case and the NIL budget shrinks I don't know how we get out of this hole with Sha's current philosophy. The program needs to reinvent itself and take on some sort of identity. I don't know what the best approach would be, but that's the only way I see the team being successful.

Run and gun and shoot 30+ 3's a game, play 40 minutes of full court pressure defense, or play a 1-3-1 zone like Beilein did back in the day. It's going to have to be something like that, IMO.
