To this staff? Great Pirate. Tough player with some coaching upside seems to me. Don't know who will or would leave.

No, we need a proven pit bull recruiter like Slice.

Did you see Derm Player may be going to St. John's on Mullin's staff?

Gonzo did have a good staff. You have to give him that.

He did. Sadly they couldn't bring him enough control of his own issues. And Gonzo was a fairly good game coach. Troubled mix of players as well.

Nice pay for an assistant. I recall that Mike Rice took less so that he would be able to pay his assistants more. Not sure KW did that.

St. johns allowing for 3.5 million for Mullin staff.... Plenty there to get Slice from Kentucky.

Gonzo was an AWFUL game coach. we routinely just rolled out the balls and hoped for the best. Our offense was basically just as embarrassing as Willard's. His teams did play hard almost all the time though.

SJU going all in. Mullin as the face of the team with full admin and alumni support. If that 3.5 is correct and IF they are successful they will still get a good ROI because it'll prop up the BE, fill the Garden and create more buzz back in the area. At the end of the day though the BE has to get teams to the second weekend and FF.

Why? He seems to give us less than Shaheen does.
We need someone who can make our big men better.

Gonzo's staff was awful. If the staff was so good why are they all out of college basketball right now?

Not surprised St. John's is going all-in with Mullin. He's the prodigal son. Who else would you go all-in with?

As for the John Morton question, heck if I know. We need leadership and cohesion. Can he offer that over a current coach? I haven't the foggiest idea.

If there was an opening on the staff, I'd try to find a former power forward or center who was a saavy player and a great rebounder.

All our coaches were guards. That's not to say they can't coach big men. However, it helps when you were successful at the position you're coaching.

It would also balance out what the staff can offer a player.
