Xavier baby

Happy for Mr. Teaneck NJ, Zach Freemantle, who after 6 years of injuries, finally gets his chance in the NCAA tourney.

Jay Wright, in the post game show, was downright giddy, and couldn't contain his happiness for Xavier and Freemantle.

Foster was Mamuesque with his 3 point shot tonight, when Xavier desperately needed it, with Freemantle on the bench with 4 fouls, with Miller buying time.

Texas coach told his team "we're in the best conference and there isn't anything they can throw at us that we haven't already seen." Then Xavier delivered a second-half haymaker Texas never saw coming!

Miller told his team they needed to defend better in the second half if they were to have any chance of winning. And Xavier's defense was really excellent in the second half!

The Musketeers represented the Big East well tonight.

The talent on the floor in this game for both teams in a First Four game shows how far behind we are.

Xavier packed with veterans. A lot of guys 23, 24, 25 years old and it shows. Thicker, stronger bodies. SH had a lot of players who were young (7 FR & SO) and on the thin side which doesn't match Sha's strategy of playing physical and attacking the basket.

I think Xavier is going to beat Illinois

Xavier got a huge lift with basically a home game in Dayton but they looked tough. Hope they make a run.

They won’t have that next season will they?

The mighty SEC debuts with a loss to the Big East. Love it. Great gutsy job of hanging in there by X. They stayed close and then ruled the final couple of minutes.
Yes, but before we get ahead of ourselves, Texas was 6-12 and finished 13th in SEC, whereas Xavier was 13-7 and tied for 4th. In fairness, Texas was injured most of year, and was healthy last night, but it was essentially a home game for Xavier.

It will be interesting to see how other Big East teams do. We had really bad out of conference record.

I was going to post the same thing. Nice win for the conference. Conference needs to do well this tournament, but not overly excited about our 5th place team being in the same boat as their 13th place team..

Yes. But last night, the BE played the SEC and the BE won. And it was great.

That was my take watching the game. So much talent on both teams and they barely made play in games. We have a lot of work to do. Great perseverance by Xavier. Good win for the conference.
