Zakai Ziegler lawsuit challenges NCAA eligibility limits

Maybe Sha can become a player coach because we don't have enough guards on the team so far?

The landscape and the lawsuits are completely out of control.

At a certain point it just becomes a bad version of the NBA.

The things that people liked about college over the NBA are almost all gone. So why not just watch the NBA?

Because people don't go to the Knicks, but they attended Seton Hall. People have personal connections to the jersey and the school.

This why the NIL cry is 🐂 💩. You sign up to play college sports, no one makes you, and you do it under those rules. Don't do it if you need to change the system. Now rotted culture has taken hold and it's all downhill from here.

True, but no longer to the players who, for the most part, are one stop players (or one & done like 2 RU players) and no longer 4 year student/athletes and future alums.

Would be awesome......IF we could afford them. Let's hope they didn't like Willard as much as they all say they did.
We would have a chance at Deano for a few years. Angel would be at UConn. Whitehead with Pitino. And Desi to some SEC or Big 10 school.

This would have massive implications and I'm shocked it took this long before someone challenged the 4 years of eligibility.

This is a player who has played 4 complete seasons for Tennessee. No Covid year, no Juco, no potential for an injury redshirt. If they find the right judge, this would open the door for hundreds of additional players looking for the same right.

Last year, Chris Ledlum and Jordan Dingle filed suit for a 5th year and lost. They were seeking a 5th year because they sat out the Covid season since the Ivy League didn't play the 2019/2020 season. But they lost and am hoping Zeigler loses also.

Moving forward if college basketball ever gets their act together, I might be in favor of a rule that grants a 5th year to a player like Zeigler who stays with 1 team for 4 years and graduates. Provides incentive for kids to stay out of the portal and graduate. But it's a slippery slope. Once you start allowing 5th years to some players, they all want the same right.

That’sa pretty creative idea…5th year if you stay at 1 school for 4.

Haven’t thought much about it…but on the face of it…I like it.

Also makes kids think…5 years to earn if I stay put, vs MAYBE more money…but only within 4 years.

At worst it might stop the knee jerk reaction to transfer after a year….or even 2…as the player may want to assess the overall earning position.

Wont affect the top players…they’ll earn plenty…but would impact the majority…and the kids right in our wheelhouse
