SCOUTING NJIT
Seton Hall and NJIT will lock up for the ninth time in history on Thursday. The Pirates have won seven of the prior eight meetings, including a sweep of the Highlanders in Walsh Gym last season on Sept. 17. NJIT's lone victory in the series came during the 2008 season.
The Highlanders are coming off an 8-21 season in 2022, which includes a 1-9 mark in America East Conference play. They closed the season with three straight losses and did not qualify for the America East Tournament. Freshman libero Doga Emil was one of seven student-athletes to be named to the All-Rookie Team.
Head Coach Trevino welcomes back 11 returners from last year's squad. Adriana Goetz-Morales joins Juliana Impaglia as five-year members of the program, Elley Torres and Kaitlyn Arias are back for their senior seasons. Last weekend, the Highlanders opened the season by getting swept by Delaware State and falling in four sets to Hofstra. They're heading to Walsh Gym off a victory, however, having swept Siena in the Hofstra Invitational finale.
SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
Seton Hall and George Mason will meet for the second-straight year and the fifth season all-time. The Pirates are 3-1 all-time against the Patriots and swept them in Walsh Gym on Sept. 2 last year. The Hall's lone loss in the series came during the 1995 season.
The Patriots are coming off a 7-22 season overall, which included a 3-15 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference matches. George Mason finished the season with eight straight losses. Gabriella Gelfound was named to the 2022 All-Rookie Team.
Mason returns 11 letterwinners while welcoming six newcomers in four freshmen and two graduate transfers. The Patriots are picked to finish ninth in the 10-team Atlantic 10 this season. George Mason lost all three matches at its season-opening DC Challenge. They were edged in five sets in the season-opener by American before getting swept by Georgetown on Saturday. In the finale, the Patriots lost in five sets to Howard University on Sunday.
SCOUTING SAINT PETER'S
Seton Hall and Saint Peter's will meet for the first time since 2012 on Saturday. The Pirates own a 14-4 all-time record against the Peacocks and have swept the last two meetings.
Saint Peter's is coming off a rough 2022 season, which featured a final record of 1-31. The Peacocks finished 0-16 on the road. Their lone victory came in five sets against Manhattan on Oct. 19.
This offseason, Head Coach Joe Chojnaki brought in six new players to the team. Additionally, key returners for the Peacocks include Morgan Thurlow, Lilly Konrad, Elena Bilhartz, Sydney Kuzma, Mackenzie Tucker, and Skylee Nelson. They're still seeking their first victory of the 2013 season having gone 0-3 last weekend. The Peacocks were swept by Duquesne and Binghamton, and fell to Merrimack in four sets.
