How about St. Mary's win at Gonzaga. Zags not looking good for tournament unless they win the WCC tournament.

And tip of cap to St Mary's. Brutal start to season and now looking like they will get in even if they dont win WCC tournament

Watched that game and witnessed some pretty brutal reffing. One call was a goaltending call in favor of Gonzaga... which was legit. Then a foul on St Mary..... only there was no foul. Zags player was clearly not touched. Refs went to monitor to figure out who the foul was on. Nada.... the offending player was never identified.... but the Zags player shot a one and one and missed it thankfully. Can't refs "pick up the flag" so to speak? They looked really foolish. Last few minutes of game had at least three reviews of monitor. It was all about the Refs.

This is one of those scenarios where you have to look beyond the metrics.

Ken Pom 21 and NET 27.

Sure they played a challenging nonconference but beat nobody noteworthy. (NET SOS: 43)

Best OOC wins
  • Syracuse (13-8) Net: 84
  • @ UCLA (10-11) Net: 125
  • USC (9-13) Net: 97
Best win for the season:
  • San Francisco at home
0-5 vs Quad 1
9-0 vs Quad 4
They have a non D1 win on the resume.

This is a team that currently doesn’t belong in the field of 68.

At some point you have to win games if significance. They have 3 opportunities left (@ Kentucky, @ San Fran, @ St Mary’s) otherwise it’s quad 3 and 4 games only.

I think they need 2 out of these 3 just to be in the conversation.

Yes, the net vastly overrates them like it underrates us. Overrates nova too and sju

Nova up 10. Very enjoyable knowing we will pick up a game on another team tonight. Prov may or may not come back, but I like the way forecasters put them into the Tournament. Do they look at the remaining games?

Nova got huge help from four guys off the bench who were 5 of 13 from 3 and contributed 28 points. Prov 0 pts from their 2 subs

Been a tough stretch for Providence to be short handed.. and not getting easier with Creighton and Butler coming up. Hard to see Providence having enough steam to get into the tournament

Providence & Villanova can get in but, they have so much to do with no slipups. It doesn't look good, but Nova is still Nova.

SJU can get to 12 wins because of their remaining schedule. Their game with Seton Hall is very important for them. Xavier will probably get in. Plus, they can do damage at MSG. Butler is the most interesting. They win at UConn on Tuesday night, and they would not have to do much more. They lose and they have to beat some good teams.

Marquette and Creighton have enough talent to not slide off a cliff. So, Seton Hall must become invincible at home. They totally control their destiny within reason. Could they win at Nova or SJU? For sure, but those games are vital to the two opponents. Also, it would be a good idea to win their first-round game at MSG.

I’m curious as to why you think Xavier will be in.

IMO they have just as much work to do as anyone else.
  • Currently not listed on most bracketologists predictions
  • A 47 NET - solid but nothing spectacular
  • 5 solid wins vs at large / bubble type teams but all at home.
  • 3-7 vs Quad 1 and Cincy (NET 30) is on the fringe of dropping to a quad 2
  • Only 12-10 overall.

Good points LeftCoast. I feel like they may get in by accumulation. You are correct they also have a lot of work to do.

Not to mention the landscape is different this year. Heading into this week you have FAU, Dayton, New Mexico, Utah state and likely San Diego St in the top 25. Slot can change over the next month, but This list is likely to be at large bids, better hope they all win their conference tournament or the number of seats on the bubble may dwindling
