Syracuse AD fired

Gotta feel sorry for Jimmy Boy, clearly the innocent victim of the decades of cheating at Syracuse.

Report: Daryl Gross out at Syracuse
ESPN.com news services

Less than two weeks after harsh NCAA sanctions were levied against the university, Daryl Gross is out as athletic director at Syracuse, according to a report by Syracuse.com.

The website, citing sources, said it is unclear if Gross was fired or resigned. He is expected to remain in some position at the university, the report said.

Gross is in his 10th year as Syracuse's athletic director, helping the athletic program, among other things, depart the Big East for the ACC.

On March 6, the NCAA suspended Orange basketball coach Jim Boeheim for nine ACC games, took away 12 scholarships, and ordered that 108 wins be vacated as a result of a multiyear investigation into the university's athletic programs.

So he gets to get caught cheating many times during his career, dictate the fate of his superiors, and announce his own fate on the same day his boss gets terminated. Hilarious!

You knew there was going to be a fall guy and the AD is it. I'm sure they made it financially attractive for him to fall on is sword as he will continue at Cuse in another position.

Its sad to say, but it will be a different world without him behind the bench. The only first 2 things outsiders think of with Cuse BB is 1)JB and 2) a jam packed Carrier dome. Between the scholarship reduction, probation causing them to cheat less and his impending retirement, you could speculate that both could be done for in 3 years.
On a good note for SHU, maybe we can (with a new coach) get some of those kids we would have lost to Cuse.
