WFAN On Willard Today

The Rothsteins of the world make it harder for real sports journalists to do their jobs. Sports reporters have an identity crisis as it is, since the sports department is generally viewed as a newspaper's "toy box." Also, fans of particular teams tend to not want to read or hear what they consider negative reporting. All they want is for the media to be cheerleaders and paint a rosy picture. I wish I had a dollar for every time someone on the Seton Hall or Rutgers board cried about the media not being fair due to a story that casts either school's athletic program in a negative light. I've seen many instances when Seton Hall fans have taken joy in a negative Rutgers story and vice versa. But put the shoe on the other foot and those same fans cry "no fair." These people don't want reporting, they want the media to shill for their program.
