Agree it is all about $. Will the increased revenue you will make in BB offset the traveling expenses in other sports ? Sports like cross country, golf would be out for sure and I also would knock out say swimming and tennis . Just some thoughts that would make it possible .

Also, would Gonzaga lead to that much of an increase in revenue? It's really hard to say. On the one hand, they are a great program that would elevate the basektball profile of the conference. When they are on ESPN playing Duke or Kansas their games get great ratings. On the other hand, they're in a small market (Spokane) on the west coast playing a conference full of east coast teams. All of their games would have to have a tip off time of at least 9pm EST. Would our TV deal substantially increase in value to justify adding them? I don't know the answer to that.

Also what about the other WCC teams? Do we have to do what the Big Ten and ACC did and add another team along with Gonzaga to make it work? Does Saint Mary's or San Francisco join? That might mitigate the positive financial effects of Gonzaga's admission.

Would any "singles" be interested in creating a PirateCrew Sponsorship table? I would likely be two. Setonball46 would make three, if he is still interested and has not yet found a seat. So, there would likely need to be about six more to complete a Sponsorship Table. Of course, I would expect HallDan to set us up with a prime location! :) You can email me at bpar0628@gmail.com, if interested.

sad to say, but some of those sports may not be long for true "college athletics" anymore once the true "P4P" kicks in with schools paying players directly...especially pending how "parity" with women's sports is determined...re finances...

So...if the Conference reads those tea leaves accurately...the decision may involve somewhat less travel than it might under current circumstances.

Based on Val's previous comments it seems like the ball is in Gonzaga's court. Keep in mind the WCC bends over backwards for Gonzaga. There is an imbalanced revenue share model, the conference tourney bracket is specifically structured around Gonzaga (they automatically advance to the semi-finals), they play a 16-game league schedule to allow Gonzaga more ooc flexibility, etc.

It's possible that Gonzaga makes more money in WCC than they would in the BigEast.

It is one thing for us to commit to one cross country team. Helluva lot more severe for them.

A man enters a Starbucks. He’s wearing an overcoat, felt hat and sunglasses. He is tall and thin; handsomely swarthy like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He walks to the counter where a high school senior is waiting to take his order.

Starbucks Girl: Good morning! (she perkily says). What can I get you?

ShuHoopsFan: Good morning?! What’s so good about it? Are you aware of all the bad going on in the world. Both sides!

Starbucks Girl: Well at least it’s a sunny day. Can I take your order?

ShuHoopsFan: Sunny?! Are you aware right now the UV rays are slowly poisoning your body? And what about Mars? Have you even given Mars a thought? The entire planet is devoid of atmosphere and the whole place is a desolate hellscape. Did you even think about that “Miss Sunny”?

Starbucks Girl: With any luck I think the clouds may roll in this afternoon. Would you like anything?

ShuHoopsFan: Clouds?! What about the clouds? Don’t even get me started on the clouds. They’re being seeded by George Soros and the rest of the rich global elites with nanoparticles that we inhale. When the time comes, they will activate the particles, turning all of us into zombies so we can do their bidding. RFK is the only one who nailed it. He’s a genius that one. Are you voting for RFK?

Starbucks Girl: No, I’m only 17. Sir, I need to help the other customers. Do you want anything?

ShuHoopsFan: You know what I want? I want the world to know I’ve got all the answers and everyone else is wrong. Including you, young lady. I’m never buying a coffee from this soulless corporate behemoth.

Starbucks Girl: Thanks and have a good day. Next! (sotto voce, heaven help me)

You want to ignore the Ray Epps thing but as you watch what he does and add the fact the FBI took him off their wanted list, it’s seems something is wildly off. For as much as he did, why aren’t they after him big time. Just makes one believe there was something done to not have enough security on purpose.

Of course you think that. It gives you an out to not blame Trump.
But fine... He was removed from the list because the FBI no longer needed information on him. He contacted the FBI on the tip line asking for help identifying people and told them that he was one of the people on the site. He had interviews with the FBI and he was not the only one removed from the list when the FBI no longer needed assistance.

For "as much as he did" - There are videos of him telling people to be calm and that the cops are on their side. Ryan Samsel (the guy he whispered to) said that Epps told him "Dude, relax, the cops are doing their job".

He also filed a defamation suit against Fox News. You know who wouldn't do that? People who do not want to open up discovery.

There is no school on the table to join the Pac-12 that would bring more positive feedback and a bigger boost than the Bulldogs

Greg Oden, the No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, leaving position as Butler assistant coach

Butler is targeting Pacers assistant Connor McCaffery to fill Oden's rather large shoes

Butler assistant coach Greg Oden, a former No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, told The Indianapolis Star he is leaving the Bulldogs. Oden was one of the first hires made by Thad Matta, Oden's coach when he played at Ohio State, after he took over the Bulldogs in 2022.

It's not yet clear where Oden will be headed, but Butler is reportedly targeting a familiar name to fill his position in Connor McCaffery, who is an assistant coach with the local Indiana Pacers. McCaffery's current gig with the Pacers is roughly a 20-minute drive from Hinkle Fieldhouse.

McCaffery has been with the Pacers for just over one year after spending six years playing at Iowa under his father, Fran McCaffery. Should he leave for the Bulldogs, he'd have the opportunity to coach his younger brother, Patrick, who is entering his first year with the program after transferring from Iowa, and also have a chance to stay close to girlfriend Caitlin Clark, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever.

The McCaffery's youngest brother, Jack, is also committed to Butler as a 2025 recruit. He's ranked inside the top 150 players in his class and chose the Bulldogs early this year over options that included Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Oden was originally hired to Matta's staff in April 2022 as the director of basketball operations before being elevated into an assistant coaching role in conjunction with the NCAA's expansion of on-court instructors. He also has previous experience at his alma mater, Ohio State, where he served as graduate assistant during the 2021-22 season under then-coach Chris Holtmann.

Oden was selected No. 1 overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2007 NBA Draft before a series of knee injuries ultimately cut short his promising career. He was the Naismith Player of the Year for the Buckeyes in his one-and-done season, where he averaged 15.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game and helped lead the team to the national championship game.
