I think 8-3 with a win @ Rutgers would be enough to keep post season hope alive. Good news is there should be plenty of opportunities for quality wins in conference play.
I think it would depend who that third loss is to - Oklahoma State doesn't seem like they are any good, so I don't know what we are getting if we win that game (and it is must win now IMO) and a loss might hurt too. I suppose if it was someone that projects to be solid like VCU in Charleston it wouldn't be an issue if we win at Rutgers, but then we need to do real serious damage in the Big East.

Last year we didn't have any horrific OOC losses. We didn't have any good OOC wins, either, but we had no losses like these past 2. And look what it took for us to do in conference play to even get where we ultimately landed on the bubble.

Getting ahead of myself though, because with this group it will literally be one game at a time IMO.

Nice to bounce back with a double digit win over an opponent that we should do that too. Vegas isn’t stupid and there is a reason we were 15+ point favorites. The team and staff needed this after the last two debacles.

As far as the remainder of the OOC, we need to run the table IMO to have any chance of having a semblance of a season. Unless we are going to surprise in the conference even more than last year.

Today was the first step in hopefully righting the ship.

He doesn't have to take these games over. The competition ramps up on Sunday and Kadary will be challenged. I'd bet he looks more for his then.

It shouldn't escape notice that he made a big defensive play that sparked SJU's game-changing 18-0 run against Wagner. Another instance that, as often happened here, he makes plays that don't necessarily show up in a box score.
You are right, but honestly there is little point trying to be objective on this topic with some. Which I get. This topic is like the recent election on steroids. I said before the season it is going to rival some of the past Rutgers stuff, Posh-stuff, Hurley at Uconn pre-title, etc, for the level of delusion.

Don't over think it - Defense has been good

Good D or just playing offensively challenged teams?
Probably something of a combination. We've clearly forced teams to play our tempo.

We're allowing 46.75 ppg over four games (53, 57, 49, 28).

Our opponents against their non-SHU opponents.

Fordham 71.3 in three games

Hofstra 89.5 in two games (one against a non D-I team) 90 against their lone D-I opp.

St. Peter's 69.5 in two games prior to Saturday afternoon.

Wagner 63.6 in three games (one against a non D-I team) 48.5 in their two other D-I games.

Not a coincidence he comes off the bench the last game and then this story comes out. Pitino is living the KR Experience. He beats to his own drum. It's not that he's a malcontent, he's simply in his own world.

They want him to be the 15-7-5 player he was at The Hall to open things up for everyone. Their ceiling is much lower if he's a 7-6-6 guy.

Glad for the win but offense needs to catch up. Too many last second shots at the end of the clock; a lot of standing around and no entry passes to the paint or drive and kicks.
Why is Addae-Wusu playing the point, even when Jenkins is on the floor? Not his fault be he has no idea how to run an offense. Shaheen said we are down 2 point guards - who are they and will they rescue Addae? Can’t score 60 points or shoot free throws, so defense is not going to do it with better competition. That said, defense was very good and Toumi should start. 2nd most talented guy on the team.

PG & C

Point guard play is concerning, but the defense was really good. The rotations are about as fast as I’ve ever seen and they really move their feet to get into position. The call against Wusu was a bang-bang play.

And as weird as it sounds—the defensive rotations seemed to have sparked better offensive spacing and getting to places on the floor that create shots.
