The people that wanted him elected, didn't want Trump, like the people that elected Trump, didn't want Hillary...
Wow that just makes us a country of hate. Nobody votes for something, they vote against something. I like to believe there are people who look at the issues and vote for something and I believe climate change was an issue that people voted for.

I like to believe there are people who look at the issues and vote for something..

I think there are like maybe 12 people who did that.

The following is just a data point of one but I can't get it out of my head.

Years ago when Obama was running against McCain I asked the young bartender at the local pizza joint who is she voting for and why.

We knew each other and I said I wasn't looking to argue I was just curious. At the time Obama had about 9 months experience as a US senator before he declared his bid. He had done nothing in Congress and relative to McCain's experience there was a stark difference.

She obliged. Her response went something like:

"I really don't follow that stuff very much but... I don't know.. you know ...I think I'm going to vote for Obama... you know... I kind of think.. change.. you know...change"

I recall thinking they should give a bonus to Obama's campaign manager for that slogan.

I'm fairness, at her age I was pretty clueless about issues myself. I'll take a guess and say some 80 to 90% of the people have no idea what the issues are and just vote on who they like.

I also remember one time when some reporter did a schtick on the street interviewing people and assigning the stances on issues from one candidate to an opposing candidate. The people agreed with the stance on every issue. They had no idea that the stances were from the other candidate.

It was both hilarious and sad at the same time.

I don’t think of it as a country of hate, but one where people fall into the divisive rhetoric gap, getting locked into positions by party line that they may not even really support on its own. And if the last 20 years have shown, we don’t value leadership in our government officials.

For me, yes. That is correct. One of the main reasons I tend to vote for democrats is that they are more likely to encouraging investing in alternative energy sources and policies which I believe will be better for the environment.

That is one of my top political issues.
There are some issues I would side with republicans over democrats, but just not as high on my list.

I did vote against Trump though.

The people who elected him wanted a greener America. That's how it works. Biden is only doing what the people who elected him wanted. Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.
I don’t want Biden! Never did, never will. He’s anti-American, always has been, always will be.

Shaq has the answer. Just gotta stop when your tank gets to half empty, and you only have to spend a quarter as much.

You mean those senile voters in Wisconsin who had their votes abused.

Sad. It very true.

Hey NY Shore Guy, I just saw you post re your surgery. I never go on Life off the Ship, and I just so happened to see your post. I'm so sorry to hear about what happened, but it sounds like everything went well for you.
If you have time, give us all an update on the Chat Board. I will say an extra prayer for you.

If we really want to advance the use of electric cars, why not focus on the broadest segment of the population with the oldest cars, that can least afford converting? Public/private partnership to incentivize EV companies to produce an economy EV for under $25k that government provides a significant tax credit or rebate ($10k?) for individuals/families under a certain income level. More EV’s on the road creates economies for charging stations.

On another front, we’re talking about the lack of high-speed rail in this country. If you think about it, we built an incredible rail network in this country but failed to maintain and upgrade it. Then the interstate highway system which was actually designed for defense purposes during Eisenhowers administration facilitated the rapid decline of the rail system. More reasons why we need to have a long-term strategy and understand some of these unintended consequences.

You’re describing a Chevy Bolt / Nissan Leaf and build back better.

$7,500 all EVs (removing the current supply cap) + $2,500 if built in America + $2,500 if built by union labor.

Is that based on income level? In general, I support that however it should only be for American built. I also don’t agree with the clause on union built.

I saw a stud the other day that said if our country went to 50% EV that our electrical grid wouldn't be able to handle it.

It’s not based on income level and you have an issue with union workers? You make it out that you are for the lower abs middle class. But God forbid that person gets a good paying union job with benefits.

How can you possibly argue that? Even Musk will allow his employees to unionize if they want to.

Not sure if that’s true but that is one of the many reasons the infrastructure bill was passed. The electrical grid is to get a major upgrade.

lol he absolutely does not make out to be for lower/middle class. he wears his ivory tower on his sleeve and will flip flop opinions to support it.

Family up to 500k and single up to 250k.
I'd agree those are to high, but the rebate sonly apply to vehicles under $50k and trucks SUV's and trucks around 70k, so kind of limits to lower / mid range EV's which people in those income brackets aren't really buying, so lowering the limit doesn't necessarily accomplish much.

Agree on the union part. It's unnecessary.

Thankfully it's not going to happen overnight and that is something we can / and are preparing for.
Electricity is the future for cars. We still need infrastructure to support that, but we will get there.

I have absolutely no issue with union workers, but why are we differentiating them from non-union for an incentive? Do we assume a non-union shop automatically has inferior wages and benefits?

Mistakes were shared between monetary AND fiscal policy. Congress shares as much blame as the Fed.
You are correct. My bad. Congress is responsible for out of control spending. Trump tried to reign it in but the threat of a government shut down (which of course would be blamed on Trump by the left-wing media) kicked that can down the road.

Why should union labor have anything to do with it, totally political and shows their true colors.

About 10% of the infrastructure bill will actually go to infrastructure. The other 90%, pork and waste.
