Always felt Paul Ryan was fair

Yes he is saying the obvious. But why do he and other former republicans speak out against Trump when they are out of office? Speak out when you are in office. Only the very few do that.

The same way democrats don’t speak out. Remember the leaked phone call after the election of socialism and defund the police cost them big. No one came out and said it. It was leaked. There’s a team strategy on both sides of sticking to the script. The system sucks and both sides are part of it.

What are you talking about? Members of the Democratic Party were blaming the far left for some of their crap they were saying like defund the police. That is by far a very small but vocal group In the Democratic Party. The head of the Party is Joe Biden who has publicly stated his opposition to such things very early in his campaign. So no, it’s not the same. Not even close and I have no idea why you even make the comparison.

Trump is the head of the Republicans and there is hardly any opposition to his ways. Now we have Republicans saying that if you look at pictures of January 6, it looks like a tour. WTF are people doing. This is outlandish. Moreover, what Trump is doing is a threat to our very democracy. The cult is still strong with 70% of republicans thinking that the elections was stolen. A complete utter self-induced delusion.

People have been talking about elections being stolen since JFK and the Chicago mafia. This isn't new. This isn't the end of our democracy. This is just a reason to get people angry which sells. Nobody is watching one straight hour of man saves dog from burning building. But "our democracy" isn't going anywhere because the rich are getting richer and they run the show. Heck I'll say lobbyists were the end of our democracy. The rich and powerful run the show, it's that simple. I'm not sure if that's how our democracy was set up. They act as if they are for the people but the majority of their work is taking care of the people who got them elected. Both sides, not just one.

A tour at the Capitol, summer of love in Seattle what's the difference? It's politicians spinning crap. They should all face consequences for the stupidity of their words because words matter. Someone died at the Capitol. Someone died in Seattle.

Yes. You are absolutely right. Mobs storming the Capitol happens all the time and 70% of Republicans think the election was stolen and thus illegitimate.

Yes this is typical politics that has happened throughout the decades.

It's a shame the senate repubs shot down the commission, they must be hiding something if they oppose this so vigorously.

Should be an independent, non-partisan, comprehensive investigation covering all bases including: What did repubs know and when? Did any of them conduct surveillance tours beforehand? What did dems know and what did they do with that info? What and when were the communications with all law enforcement agencies that day? What did the Capital Police do or not do that day? Who killed Ashli Babbitt? Why is there still military presence, etc. in DC?

Yes you are absolutely right. One side is to the blame, other side is a bunch of really good people looking to serve the needs of those who can't help themselves. Most of them should canonized as saints as they bear no responsibility for the political climate of this country.

This may be shock to you, but if both sides did their job properly for the past 50-100 years, people might trust the government and laugh at a guy like Trump. But because those saints in office have screwed regular people for years, some people are willing to buy whatever Trump sells as opposed to the government. Some people feel like they've been taking it up the pooper from the governement for years and are sick and tired of it, others enjoy it.

No one is saying Democrats have no blame in some wrongs in the country. But this discussion has nothing to do with that. It is about why very few Republicans speak against Trump while in office. Only when they are out of office does the courage to speak grab them. One reason is obvious - job security. We are not talking about policy, we are talking about democracy. Something bigger than politics. Liz Chaney, Mitt Romney and Adam Kinslinger are the few that are talking about this while in office. What you fail to grasp or see is that this is not a Republican/Democrat issue. It is about something bigger, the country itself that we as Americans are all part of together. It is about the peaceful transition of power from one party to another. Examples of finding losers of elections bowing out gracefully are not hard to find. See George Bush, Al Gore, Mitt Romney, and John McCain. this has been the tradition of this great country. What Trump did was try to throw the country into chaos for his own selfish reasons.

You confuse or conflate politics and policy disagreements with chaos and anti-democracy movements. Two completely different things. I thought this was obvious to see but apparently to some, they can't distinguish between the two.

And the answer is because it's a team sport. democrats and republicans play the same sport. Why you continously only care about half the problem is mind boggling.

This is where your argument fails. Prominent Republicans have repudiated Trump and especially Trump with January 6th and this ridiculous lie that the election was stolen. If it were a “team sport” then people like The former head of the RNC, Michale Steele, Former President Bush, Romney, Chaney, John Boehner, Paul Ryan would not repúdiate Trump and Trumpism.

There are plenty of prominent Republicans that repúdiate Trump just very few who do so when in office.

The only repub you mentioned above that has any cohones is Cheney. The rest of those hated Trump before he was ever president. Not a good argument.

What difference does it make if they were against Trump before he was President? They recognized the kind of grifter low life that he was and is. Point is prominent Republicans. Also I forgot Adam Kizlinger.

I think they just disagree with your premise. To agree they would have to agree that Trump is different than normal politicians but they don’t.

You would think an actual riot on the US capital because of an outright lie would be enough to move them, but apparently not.

The point is they always hated Trump and much of that was personal, it was no great shakes to denounce him. All of them are sort of phonies. Cheney was a Trump supporter who saw the light on the election stuff.

I've never met a single person who thinks the election was rigged or stolen. This stuff about a "big lie" seems like another thing to keep people distracted and divided.

You’re not looking very hard. They’re at arms length.

So on a team of about 250 players you found about 5 rebels who hated Trump before he announced he was running for President. Nice job. It’s a team sport. The overwhelming majority stick to the script so they can climb the ladder.

Maybe you sound a touch condescending to many if so many people still support him. Come to think, perhaps it’s people like you that in part drive his support. Cue the angry response.
