Another Log On The Fire

‘Tis the season!

Remember the defense? Opposing team’s shooting percentages against Seton Hall during this 4-game losing streak:

Oklahoma State = 56.9%
Rutgers = 53.5%
Villanova = 55.3%
Georgetown = 53.5.%

Hmm. I think I see a trend. 🤔

"Best defense in the country" was short lived lol

What do you get when you pair bad defense with bad offense? Rhetorical question lol.

its less defense and more so personel.

gtown was feasting in the paint. we have no rim protector. none. its open season. its not like we're leaving shooters super wide open

Gtown did not score a point in the last 3:50 of the game last night and at the end of the 1st half we stopped them 7 straight times and did not score once . Our offense is pitiful PERIOD .

Our defense was OK last night. G'town made a number of shots that were much more difficult than shots we wound up missing on our end. Gus was good.

We have not been good at all in playing straight defense, but we’ve done a great job at generating turnovers and that’s kept us alive and in position in many of these games. But then we can’t convert turnovers into offense.

And so many of those offensive rebounds last night went to waste. It’s horrible to watch, so frustrating.

Our good defense was against bad,overmatched teams.Says more about the competition than good defense on our part.Overall,our defense has been erratic and spotty.

The percentage can be misleading.

When you force a team into 16 turnovers that’s good defense and is just as good as a miss in terms calculating percentages.

The 61 points yesterday and 66 points vs Rutgers is more reflective of a good defensive effort.

Agreed, the turnovers have kept it in check…. So has our improved FT defense in those two games (11/22 Georgetown, 13/28 Rutgers). 🤣

If Gtown had shot better than 50% from the line, this whole thing is moot. Must have been our D at the line---it sure as hell wasn't our offense.

Conversely we shot 3/24 form 3 (12.5%)

Prior to the game we were shooting better than 33% and Georgetown’s D was yielding a % higher than that.

If, we shoot anywhere close to our average, that’s an additional 5 more makes and 15 points for us.

Bottomline it was another ugly low 60s game and we don’t have the closer to hit the big shot in the final seconds like we have had recently.

But I don’t believe the defense cost them game yesterday.

Points well taken and that's 19 turnovers not 16.
