East coast guards are known for their athleticism and ability to attack off the dribble, and Seton Hall landed a good one on Tuesday night in Anthony Nelson. The New York City native chose the Pirates over Minnesota and Dayton, and will bring his ability to the Big East conference.

During the summer running with the New York Lightning, Nelson averaged 10.8 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game. He did a little bit of everything in leading the Lightning to an impressive showing in the EYBL.

Right now the strength of Nelson's game is attacking the rim off the dribble and using his size and strength to be a problem. While he is a capable jump shooter, his first instinct is to go off the bounce and make things happen. Also, much like current Pirate guard Khadeen Carrington, Nelson has the size and toughness to be a very good defender. In fact his versatility on the defensive end of the floor is very intriguing for how Seton Hall likes to play.

This is the first commitment for the Pirates in the class of 2018, and one that will add to the depth in the backcourt for Kevin Willard and his staff.
