Any Juice?

Wednesday night…normal tip time….a few questions I have.

What’s your gut saying the attendance will be?

(I’ll say actual attendance between 6-7k - paid will be closer to 9k)

Will the student section turn out in force?

(I don’t think so)

Will the fans there be into it from the start or will they be reserved waiting to see which team shows up?

(🤷‍♂️)
Student section is EMPTY

Thats sad, were 8-5 in Big East, NOVA was 5-7 or something like that and had a packed student section

Guess SHU is FrontRunnerUniversity.... Even RUTGERS whos in like last place has fans

Be nice to capture the juice we had at Creighton game. It became louder and louder as the players sucked it up and gave what was arguably their best performance of the year, even though we lost. It HAS to begin with the players. The fans will react. Once the team gets a winning pattern going, the juice will be automatic... to start the game off. I was trying to remember back in the early 90's at CAA....... we had automatic juice in many of those games. I'll never forget UNC coming in on a CBS game on a Sunday afternoon, Al McGuire and Billy Packer on the call. Now THAT was automatic juice. But the players had to have earned it.
Answering my own question.... the players earned it today!!

Players brought their own juice, love to see it. Now a chance to pick up a resume boosting road win and deliver the knockout blow to the Johnie’s faltering tournament tournament hopes? Sign me up.

The problem is the attendance/ juice is so fickle. One bad loss here or there and it feels like the air in the balloon immediately goes out.

There needs to be a culture in place where going to the game is always the place to be if we are competitive. I can’t justify expecting a large turnout when you have the product on the floor Gtown and DePaul are putting out.
never gonna happen when you have to take a bus to/from newark as a student.

There are consequences when you embarrass yourself. Empty seats were a great reminder of the embarrassment we suffered against Nova. I personally knew we would get back on track last night, and we will re pay Nova soon! I bought extra tickets last night for that Nova game. I expect a beat down is coming for them. Our coach will suit up if he has too. Take that prediction to the bank.

Now imagine if the Rock was reserved for those big games and the Wednesday night Xaviers and Georgetowns of the world were on campus like many other schools are able to do? It’ll never happen but one can dream.
No thanks.

I'm old enough to remember when people said the same about CAA - too big, cavernous, dull. It was part of the reason they moved to Newark as it tied in with the opportune timing of a new arena being built. Now almost 20 years later we're hearing the same about the Rock. Oh boy.
From one person.

you joke, but it would work
I’m not joking. But that is messy and tougher to control underaged drinking.

But wristband them as they get on and hand them a can of beer should they request, and then allow one more on the bus in exchange for an empty to ensure it ends up in a trash bag. It would cost NOTHING and it would get kids on the bus for essentially 2 free beers, a free voucher or two (when they get off the bus) for a low-cost 12-oz beer at the Rock (negotiate cost for a cheap beer) and you allow 4 drinks on the school for a 3-4 hour total event. That is reasonable and responsible as an organization.

What they do on their dime is their own prerogative and out of your control.

Sobriety check on exit before boarding. Uber vouchers from Rock directly to campus or some kind of reimbursement if they are deemed too intoxicated to board the school sponsored bus.

Don’t be penny wise, pound foolish. A packed student section with rowdy fans amps up the rest of the crowd. We are a laughing stock. Create an atmosphere. These are college kids, they’re gonna drink.

But this is a school that took The Pub off campus.
