Any Juice?

Dont know about you, but I would make friends with the non drinkers and help them dispose of their booty. And one thing about the Valentines Day excuse. Forgive an old man's ramble. But as you know they love panning the arena on the big screen, and if they happen upon a nice looking young woman, then may pan her way a few times. Like they did the other night. So we have a bunch of Romeos as fans, and none of them figured she was worth a Valentine's date? Or did she just want to go to the game.

Pot is legal, so lets give them a joint too.

Your first sentence to me is a “no shit Sherlock”, but the school can CYA.

On the pot, you can walk into a bar and buy/consume an alcoholic beverage. You cannot walk into a dispensary and consume on premises. Pot is legal to purchase and consume at your own discretion, most expected to be your residence. Apples to oranges.

I’m not joking. But that is messy and tougher to control underaged drinking.

But wristband them as they get on and hand them a can of beer should they request, and then allow one more on the bus in exchange for an empty to ensure it ends up in a trash bag. It would cost NOTHING and it would get kids on the bus for essentially 2 free beers, a free voucher or two (when they get off the bus) for a low-cost 12-oz beer at the Rock (negotiate cost for a cheap beer) and you allow 4 drinks on the school for a 3-4 hour total event. That is reasonable and responsible as an organization.

What they do on their dime is their own prerogative and out of your control.

Sobriety check on exit before boarding. Uber vouchers from Rock directly to campus or some kind of reimbursement if they are deemed too intoxicated to board the school sponsored bus.

Don’t be penny wise, pound foolish. A packed student section with rowdy fans amps up the rest of the crowd. We are a laughing stock. Create an atmosphere. These are college kids, they’re gonna drink.

But this is a school that took The Pub off campus.
stop you're sounding like a standard run of the mill school!! we have standards!!

joking aside, this comment could fix more than any dumb brain trust at shu has figured out in 20 years

Figuring this out has to be a priority in the offseason. Administration should be talking to students, sending out surveys, doing focus groups etc to figure out what the problem is. I would also talk with other similar schools like Providence and figure out how they built their culture. How do they navigate night classes? Has to also be a commitment by the school to make basketball the main attraction on Wed and Saturday. Maybe limit night classes on Wed and no large scale campus events on that day.

Need to also have some incentives for students to come like priority points for housing, money or prize giveaways, affordable alcohol/free food. Atmosphere also needs to be better. Need more up to date songs by pep band and DJ needs songs to get crowd into it. Similar to how Providence has Taylor swift song that they sing every game.
